What are doing for yours? What insoles are you wearing ? What golf and gym shoes have the best arch support?

Left foot is far worse than the right

I've been fighting p.f. for a couple of years now with only moderate success.  I've been to a foot specialist for a round of cortisone shots that was less than temporary. He made some orthotics that did nothing, and cost a lot. I dumped him. My chiropractor showed me some stretching excercises that help a little. I have been using some orthotics that I got from Good Feet that help a surprising amount. The biggest thing that I've found that helps is a shoe with a stable heel. I wear Keen shoes for the most part and have found them to be very supportive in the heel area.

Good Luck!

I had it pretty bad at work a year ago or so.  I tried the Dr Scholls computer thing where you step on it then it recommends an insole.  Works great!  Feet feel fine now.  May not work for you, but a cheap trial before $200+ orthotics.

I found puma gym shoes, faas 5000, to be the best for me. But I had a chiropractor adjust my ankles a few times and got the best results from that. I was the same that my left was far worse too.

I too had PF a couple of years ago. It got bad enough that I saw a podiatrist that made me custom orthotics for around $300. I also have a Morton’s neuroma (pinched nerve) in one foot that made wearing the hard orthotic impossible. I started doing Achilles and calf stretches and within two months it went away. I stretch in the AM every day. With legs straight point toes toward your knees while in bed. I also do some standing calf stretches. This has worked for me.

Been dealing with it for almost a year now with limited results.  Got orthotics from my Podiatrist and they help some.  I think it just takes time to heal, a long time.  I used to walk the course almost exclusively but now have to ride.  It sucks.

I think you have to find something that works for you.  For some, it's orthotics at the podiatrist, for some it doesn't work, it made my PF worse.  In addition to the stretches that have been mentioned above, I have found that wearing western-style boots, or something with a taller heel with these inserts have worked for me.  I read a story where Eli Manning was dealing with it and the cure for him was cowboy boots.  I don't understand why, but it works.  I put those inserts in every pair of shoes that I have and they have been the cure for me.

For Golf I have found those in FJ XPS-1's or FJ Icon's is the ticket.  Interesting, Addidas shoes have been horrible for me, and everybody else likes them.  I don't know what to say about that.

Adidas shoes were horrible for me too.  Caused pain in my leg joints and back too.

I ended up with orthotics from the doctor, and wear these to work.  At home, I try to wear something around the house, like sandals or tennis shoes that have arch support.  The problem in my case was moving to a house with mostly hardwood flooring.

Olukai Flip flops is what I wear around the house or fishing all day on the deck of a boat or anywhere.  I forgot to add those, they are great!  All doctors will tell you not to wear flip flops, but these have an arch support and the cushioning has been great to wear.  Expensive for flip flops but no more than a pair of cheaper golf shoes.  Nike frees are pretty good to me too, and that defies logic.

I tried a bunch of things.  Night splint cleared it up for me.

I had a pretty bad case of PF 10 yrs or so ago. Chiro didn't help, stretching didn't help, orthotics didn't help. Only reducing heavy strain helped. I have flatter feet and used to wear running shoes for overpronators. They made my feet feel worse. I started to wear very flexible, higher cushioned shoes and they seem to help.

I have been dealing with this recently as well, I have tried the ice, steching and night splints but so far it hasn't helped that much. I guess the doc is the next step if it doesn't turn soon.

I've had it off and on a number of times over the years. Shoes that fit correctly are a must. I found many of my golf shoes were too roomy in the toe area which allowed my foot to slip around. Walking side hills and such was putting a strain on my feet.
But in truth I had someone show me how to tape my foot. For sure the best remedy for me.

I just looked at the you tube link... While the taping technique I was taught is different (pre-kineseology tape) the principle is basically the same.
