I took 3 swings. All were good strikes (what can I say?
The club I was using to get the numbers was a JPX 800 pro on a graphite shaft. Are there others shafts to obtain the numbers with? The
Numnuts rep at GS was not very informative. Nice enough guy though.

I am a fan of the optimiser as a fitting tool because it takes into account how the player loads the shaft. It is also pretty idiot proof, which is good considering the wide range of people using it as a fitting tool.
Just to put things in perspective if you run 88 4,3,1,4 the recommendations all fall back into the S flex category.
Dynamic Gold S300
Project X 5.5
KBS Tour S
Unless your launch conditions are extreme (high launch and spin) with your smooth tempo it is likely that you will be perfectly happy with the slightly softer flex options. Don't forget the final part of the full fitting process, is hitting the recommended shafts using trackman to confirm the launch conditions and shaft feel.
That makes a little more sense then. Last summer, I was getting 6i swing speeds of 85-88mph at a taylormade booth. They suggested stiff for me at the time.
I doubt I'll venture into stiff flex, but would like to try the recommended bend profiles. I'm currently playing burner 2.0 with stock stiff 85g shafts. I like the feel well enough. Would like a lower flight though.

Your driver has to be higher than that. My driver ss is in that range and I was at 80-81 for 6 iron.

It used to be up in the 105 range and I saw a max of 111, but that was 5 years ago when I was in my 30's. Now, I can barely get to 100mph using a swing speed radar. That's why i dont believe the Mizuno optimizer numbers of 91 mph with a six iron. I do carry my 8 iron 155 (Burner 2.0 jacked lofts)
No way i am an x-flex like mizuno recommends.

I recorded the following:
SS Numbers
90 4475
91 3467
91 3467
90 4367
91 3457
93 3467
93 3465
91 3467
Now IIRC, the shaft optimizer suggested with some of these numbers a PX 5.5 and with some of the others, DG XP 300, and something else along these lines. I currently play PX 6.0 SSx1 and I feel that I have a very consistent setup, and a very accurate iron setup. Is there something that I am missing? If I try a DG XP S300, shots with a 6 iron into the wind are as long as a 9 iron and as high as a lob wedge. Just need some degree of understanding as to why I have the shaft suggestions that I have. To provide a bit more info, with DG S300s that I used to play, I could backspin shots off of the front of a green. I have a stack and tilt single plane swing and a smooth acceleration without any hard transitions or jerks with my irons. I don't try and overswing or overpower a shot.
I also want to add, that this may be before the inclusion of the C-Tapers (not likely to be a suggestion) or the PXi into the Mizuno software.
Thanks for the help.

I recorded the following:
DNA Numbers: 91 3467
There are two important differences between your swing DNA and the OP's DNA. The first is your tempo is a tad smoother (3 vs 4), the second is your release point is earlier in the swing (7 vs 4). These differences result in the software recommending lighter shafts in a slightly softer flex for the same swing speed as the OP.
The UK version of the software returns the following recommendations for your DNA
- Nippon 950 X flex
- Dynalite Gold XP S300
- Dynamic Gold SL S300
The software is responding to your smooth tempo and trying to provide a light weight shaft in response to that. Now if you change the tempo slightly from 3 to 4 then the results are:
- Dynalite Gold XP X 100 soft stepped
- Project X 6.0
- KBS Tour X soft stepped
The software is not perfect and should always be supported by launch monitor testing of the shafts suggested.
