I put putter in the middle because it's a bigger slot & I have a super stroke slim on it. After I start a round it goes in the external putter well.

I arrange mine the same except I reverse (Hybrid-3W-Driver).  I do this to protect the Hybrid shaft.  The Hybrid headcover doesn't cover the shaft and the 7 iron would bang against it.  By reversing the order, the 4 iron is taller and hits on the Hybrid headcover.  Kinda the same thing as others have mentioned in changing the order of the irons, I just chose to change the order of 3 clubs vs. 10.

For years in my hoofer vantage it has been:
D-3w-p
3-4-5 / 6-7-8
9-pw-gw / SW-LW

After years of use, the metal clip that the strap retracts through has broken, so I have a new SM four-5 on the way.  I would anticipate using thee same basic orientation though.

I go longer left-to-right and top-to-bottom with my irons.  My woods/hybrids go longer top-to-bottom on the right side.  Putter goes up by the driver during travel and in the putter well during play (if riding).  This is in a traditional 14-way divider stand-bag.  My next bag will probably be a diamond-pattern 14-way divider or maybe a WoodE arangement.

I go in order of behavior. Clubs who behave the most go in front. Clubs who have been bad go in the back. Clubs who have been really bad get tied to the back bumper and dragged all the way home.

I do the same. Just makes things easier when taking them in and out of the bag.

True, this is the way I do it too, however I also put all the even # irons on the left and odd #'s on the right, the wedges in the middle at the bottom. That way the stacking leaves good height separation.

Me too, except my driver. I strap that to my back like a sword. I find the head just takes up too much space in the bag, really tough to get it out of there.

(Ping 4Series bag, 4 slot)
Driver, 3W, and putter on top...
3, 4 in the middle left...5,6, maybe 7 in the middle right
Wedges and shorties in the bottom.
Never really gotten a good thing going with my placement, though I have thought about it alot haha

looking at my bag from behind a cart it's like this... 3w D 5w
  6i, 5i, 4i, 3i
     7i, 8i, 9i, pw
  52, 56, ptr.

When on my push cart it's upside down...   ptr, 56, 52
  pw, 9i, 8i, 7i
  3i, 4i, 5i, 6i
   5w, D, 3w

It just seems to make sense like this (to me that is...).  Hmmm, edited to say "oops it didn't look like this in the text window..."

I just hate it when guys have a carry bag and they put their driver and fairway woods at the bottom and have their wedges on top.  I mean, how the hell does that make sense?  If you only ride in a cart, then just get a staff bag.

Is there any single digit handicaps that put their putter with their wedges?  Haha.  That is usually a red flag for a hack.  "yeah, I put my 300 dollar putter next to my beat up wedges.  Why would I want to put it next to my other clubs that have head covers?"

Actually got me thinking that my bag is set up wrong these days.  I used to walk all of the time and my wedges that I use the most were closest to me when I set my stand bag down.  Well, now that I ride a cart 90%+ of the time, playing resort type courses mostly, my bag gets turned around and when I drive it is fine but when I am a rider it is hard to retrieve my wedges.  My 52, 56, and 60 fit in the side and the PW-6 fit in the bottom which is biggest compartment, then the 5,4, hybrid and 3W are a tight fit in the other side.  My driver and putter are in the top with a lot of room but I use them the most and they are easy to retrieve.  I used to carry the 3 wood in the top also but it seemed to be in the way most of the time, so I figure I use the longer clubs so infrequently that they can be a tight fit.  I have a 5+ year old Ping Hoofer and should probably get a cart bag with more room since I ride so often.

In a Ping Pioneer LC looking down at it on a push cart

PW-5i-D
UW-6i-4w
SW-7i-3h
LW-8i-4h
      9i

I push with my right hand and this allows me to see all the clubs easily and have minimal blockage from top to bottom. The best push cart bag ever, the old Izzo Element was set up this way and I wore it out after about 8 years. Basically it was the Ogio Woode system reversed. I have sent numerous emails to Izzo asking to bring this layout back to no avail. I wish someone would as it is by far the most functional design for use on a push cart.

My staff bag is:

Left to Right

driver-3wood/2i/putter
3/4/5i-6/7/8i
9/PW-56°/60°

Always the way I've done it & if I ever carry they're arranged the same way, I'm pretty anal about always having my sticks going back into the same spot. I think it looks the cleanest this way anyways, all the bags I see in the GD WITB are setup the same way.

It's probably easier pulling clubs from the bag when it's still on his shoulder if the longer clubs are not blocking access to the more-frequently-used shorter clubs.
