The definitive answer was given July 24th, the day this post began by bjackson.  There is NO upcharge for shafts with the exception of PXI.  I was not charged for my Modus 3's when I got these clubs.  Golfsmith has it wrong.

Well if it were so definitive retailers (multiple at that) wouldnt have the wrong information.  Glad to see that you werent charged for shaft upgrades.

First round with mine: 3-pw, left handed, kbs tour 90, 1/4" long, D3.

Really nice clubs. Made all the shots. An improvement over the original Anser forged — better looking and the mid- short irons seem more like player's clubs.

To be honest, other than looks and the knowledge (not the feel) that they are forged, performance is just about the same as my i20s. That said, and to all the complainers about the price, they were not that much more than the i20s would have been with the same specs. And maybe there is an edge in performance and feel that I will see after a few more rounds. And they really look great.

Just got my new set yesterday. + 0,5 inch Coulour code Maroon, CBS Taper in xflex. Having played the old ansers for one season I can say: A LOT BETTER LOOKING! more of the players club that i was looking for. overall excellent, especially with less offset now. The perfect match seems to be the c-taper. the looks combined with the anser head had peoples heads turning. Love the stiffness of the shaft and its feel. For some reason it just feels a little lighter than my old px 6.0 ? Can´t be by looking at the specs, but could be that I just can´t feel the head (due to the stiffness) the same way as before? will get adjusted for sure and couldn´t be happier! Pics to come later.

Ping are exteremely keen that retailers of their products do not discount and are also not fans of internet sales. Discount Dans were offering the best prices around on Ping product and some of their competitors complained to Ping and their account got suspended. I have 2 sets of the Anser, with the regular project X 6.0 and the new PXi. Lets just say I got a really good hook up.

can you describe the diference in these heads between the 2 shafts?

Interestingly enough, the PXi does not seem at all too much lighter.
PXi you can def. feel the load in the shaft and the ball flight is a touch higher in the long Irons and shorter in the short irons. Thus, with the trajectory differences, more carry and thus more yards.
I will have launch monitor details this weekend thru track man. But all in all, about 3 to 4 yards better in distance.

I received my set of these today.  I am very pleased with the purchase.  Received 5-PW with PX and upgraded grips, cheaper than I could have upgraded the I20s with the same specs.  I owned the original Ansers and must say although the changes are very subtle, they look much cleaner at address.  Especially the short irons which are more rounded and look fantastic.

Played 9 with them tonight and the feel is about the same as the originals, but again I am very pleased.  Distance if good and forgiveness is excellent for a players club.  I also have AP2 712s with the same shaft.  I would say the AP2s are a little softer feeling, but the Ansers are slightly more forgiving.  

I think these are worth every penny and the Ping customer service is superb.

I have them in the X100's They feel great, and very forgiving on misses hit thin.   Great penetrating ball flight, great distance (mine are bent weak for traditional lofts) I really enjoy these irons.   Unless the S55 are special (which I feel like they will be rebadged S56's.) These will be in my bag until I have browning on them.

I just received my new Ansers 5-PW with PX 5,5 maroon 0,5 long. I have tried a lot of PINGs, this is the best ever. I am so happy with mine :-)

Well just to prove I am a proper ho I just order a set of these built to exactly the same specs as my original ansers. They dont look a bunch different to me except for a little less offset, but lets see when i get some proper game time side by side

You will get a lot of different replies to this. Predictably a number will say they don't feel anywhere as nice as their Mizzies, or harder than Ap2's yada, yada. Feeling is subjective and so Endo forgings are clicky vs Miura forgings which are softer and each is personal taste. Anser 2012 is NOT one of the softer forgings, but it feels absolutely fine to me as you are in no doubt when a shot is well struck and when not and I would put it in the AP2 category for forged, which is the crossover group that is not as soft as traditional forged blades, yet is not as harsh as cast

I ordered a set of these yesterday. 4-PW with KBS C-Taper, plus Gorge wedges in 52, 56, 58 and 60 with the same shafts. I got the irons for £752 ($1,199) and the wedges for £231 ($368).

It may have been already covered here, but how do the Ansers compare to the i20's?  I have some i20's with CFS Stiff, but I'm considering the Ansers with PXi.
