Im watching the movie Welcome to Mooseport and during the golf scene between Ray Ramano and Gene Hackman, Ray has this score keeper that he just clicks for each stroke. Anyone know where you can buy one of these? I actually think its pretty handy

I tried one of those. I kept fogetting to click it when I hit. If I remember correctly I bought mine from either TGW or Dick's Sporting Goods.

The one I have counts total strokes with no way to reset to zero so it doesn't work well for hole by hole stroke counting.

I desperately wanted one of these when I was first starting out (you know - too many strokes/penalties to keep track of). I did  a lot of research and everything I found made for golf was just cheap junk. And the quality ones designed for commercial use were too big and heavy to pocket.

You might check in the baseball section of a bigger sporting goods store.  Baseball teams keep track of the pitchers pitch count and they normally use a little clicker to keep the count.  They are usually small and pretty reliable and can reset to zero at any time.

I did this when I was a teen. I got some beads out of my moms craft stuff and took a shoe lace and made one of these. Mine was a lot more unrefined, but you get the idea.

If you need a clicker or beads to keep track of your strokes, maybe you should quit keeping score for a while and concentrate on practice.

ummm no clicker needed.... I can play every shot of round in my head. IF you need a clicker that means you are tracking more than 5 shots a hole... hit the range and you will find you dont need a clicker to count your shots.... I have had some holes where it would have been handy, like the 12 I got a par 5 a few years ago, but lately I just need to count no higher than 8

Also with my friends you dont need a CLICKER those SOB's know what you are laying LOL!

And for the record, I don't use paper scorecards anymore.  I rely solely on Golfshot GPS on my phone for scores.  Nothing better than finishing a round, and emailing everyone the scores, and having the stats tracked for you.  I don't rely on it solely for distances; I have a laser for that, but that laser is only out once a hole for "the second shot" into the green.  Apps beat clicky all day long.

I also use golfshot and there is one reason I really like it. I don't commit my score to memory, just plug it in after every hole. And since it always advances you don't have to look at your previous holes. I like not seeing a bad number staring back at me like on a card. So I know if I am doing well or not, but don't get caught up on specific numbers. I don't even use the GPS version anymore, just the free scoring app. Like you I use the laser when distance is needed.

isnt that the same thing like when you take field trips in elementary school and the teacher keeps count of the students on the bus?

Yep, it is handy in keeping your whole season of strokes up to 9999....
