I guess my best shot was a short 85 yard par 3. I hit a sand wedge which landed like 3-4 inches behind the hole. If the green wasn't so soft due to the damp conditions (and probably if I used a better ball), I think it could've spun back a couple inches for my first hole in one. Oh well, can't cross that off the bucket list quite yet.

Or there was another time when I landed in a bunker about 20 yards away from the pin and I holed it. Then on the very next hole, I ended up in a different bunker about 30 yards away and holed that one too. Awesome feeling indeed. :)

Mine would have to be one of two.

First shot, made a hole in one and won a trip to Puerto Rico in a tournament once.  Holed a 7 iron on the fly from 165.  Sad part is, I was so hungover from the pairing party the night before, that all I could give was a shrug and a wry "yippee."

Second was this past summer in our member/guest matchplay.  Hit a driver through the dogleg into the adjacent fairway on the first hole, a par 5.  Hit a huge high cut with a hybrid from 240, over the trees that separated the hole, and hit it to 2 inches and was conceded eagle.  1 up, thank you.  Then proceeded to hit it OB on the next hole and make double, but that is neither here nor there.

I've had a hole-in-one, but my favorite shot was:

I went down to Kishkiak (sp?) in Williamsburg, VA as a member of the W.V.U. club team.  There was a tree-lined par 5, nailed my drive, then pulled out my 3-wood to go for it in two.  As soon as I hit it, I knew it was sweet.  It was pin-seeking the whole way and I almost expected it to be in the hole.  After walking up it was almost a let-down it was 2 feet away from the hole.

That was the purest shot I've ever struck, other than my 8 iron I jarred for eagle at Belmont Country Club on hole #1 in high school.

Mine was at Micke Grove in Lodi, CA... 10th hole, playing with my Boss at that time. About 145 out on a Par 4. Hit my shot and he started asking me where the hell I was hitting too. Headed back to the cart thinking I slid it off to the right. Hit the bank behind the trap and ended up rolling in. I didn't even see it. He told me where it hit and how it just kept rolling towards the downhill hole and in. Awesome for my 2nd ever Eagle.

My best shot ever came in my 2nd year of playing golf.  My wife worked with a bunch of guys who "played golf" since they were kids (couple times a year maybe) and they couldn't believe that I was shooting under 100 in my 2nd year of playing (went out over 100 times that first year LOL).  They wanted to see for themselves, so we all met up and played.  On the 4th hole was a dog-leg right...lay up and then across the water.  My ball lander just short of the green to the right and followed the countour of the green up to the hole and in for my first ever eagle!!  They were speechless LOL.

I think I had a new best shot of the season late in the year.  I was playing at Lochenheath in Traverse City, Mi around Labor Day.  The 2nd hole is a par 5 where the tee shot is up hill, part of the 2nd is uphill and from where my drive ended up I was blind to the green.  I drove up so I could get the lay of the land (my first time playing the hole).  I saw a large mound in front of a bunker that was maybe 25 yards right of the hole and then the entire hole sloping down to the left.  I was about 250 out.  I picked my spot (right at the middle of the bunker right of the green) blasted a 3 wood with a nice draw on it.  I wasn't able to see the ball land or roll but apparently I picked the right spot.  When I got up to the green my 2nd was less than a foot away for a tap in Eagle.

All things considered, it was on hole #18 at Hawk Hollow in Bath, MI

http://binged.it/VrHz4z

I was playing in the semi-finals of the Michigan Net Match Play and was down 1 on the last hole.  The pin was where it was in the picture (front right of green) and I was over the green, back left, probably 15 feet from the green.  The green has a huge slop from back to front and the pin is even further in a bowl.  I had to really just drop it 3 feet on the green and let the slope take it - which I did and ended up about 18-inches from the cup.  I made par and my opponent made bogey and we went on to #19!

He ended up beating me on the 20th hole, but that shot on 18 was clutch.
