Just off the press GolfWRX has found out that Ping will be bringing the Anser adjustable driver and Tour Wedges w/Gorge grooves to John Deere and the Scottish Open. We have attached pictures of both for you to see below.

ADJUSTABLE ANSER DRIVER -  GolfWRX has found out that Ping will be bringing the Anser adjustable driver to tour pros this week. The Anser driver is a 460cc titanium head with a black-matte finish that is adjustable for loft plus or minus 1/2 degree. This is the first time Ping has engineered an adjustable driver. For years Ping saw no value to adjust the specs if properly fitted. It will be interesting to hear why they think there is a reason now. Ping’s credibilitybeign so high will certainly have a good answer for this.

Adjusting the loft will also change the face angle from open to closed. More loft and the more it is closed and conversely  less loft will  make the face angle open up.
The Anser Driver is flat black just like the 2012 I-20 Driver that won the GolfRWX 12′ Editors Choice, 12 GolfWRX Community Choice.

The driver has four “standard” lofts: 8.5, 9.5,10.5 and 12 degrees and is expected to be available to consumers in mid-August. Pricing not available yet.

TOUR WEDGE – Along with the Driver this week on tour Ping is showcasing the new “Gorge Grooves” which are precision milled at PING’s plant in Phoenix to hold extreme tolerances to maximize the groove’s performance. Unfortunately manufacturing has variation. To positively guarantee you will pass the groove ruling during a competition the manufactures add  a little buffer for lack of better words. This buffer while small could make the difference in the balls spin rate during play. Ping says they have capitalized and engineered a way to cut the grooves closer to that rule. In short… more spin and more bite legally!

Higher lofts are offered in three sole options to match swing-style (steep or shallow) and playing conditions (soft, hard, etc.). Expected to hit golf shops by mid-August and pricing was not available.

WOW!  Never thought I'd see the day when PING released adjustable clubs!  This will be a heavy contender vs. the 913 line when it is released.

Ping finally did it.  After years of saying it didn't work and there was no reason to...next they'll be saying they're doing a ball too.  Wait... :D

Wow, that driver looks really nice, it will be interesting to see how many of the tour players make the switch to this from their G/I20.

Oh, that looks nice!  Can't wait to hear how it compares to the i 20,  I knew waiting is good.  I almost pulled the trigger on a Callaway Razor Fit but with the price drop whats around the corner.  I was then leading to the i20 but this prolongs the wait.

still swinging my i 5 irons, yes they might not be conforming but I do not see the rush when I'm stripping it.

Thanks for the info, right on top of things like usual!  That being said....PING doesn't come to the market with something adjustable for a while and this is what they offer? I mean, I personally like the look of the club itself from what I can see, especially if it has a matte black finish on top.  But unless PING has found away to really move weight around, I can see the 1/2 degree adjustments making much of a difference at all.

I know.  They really had to.  They're late to the party, but at first blush, it doesn't look like anything we haven't seen before.  But of course, we'll all go hit it to see!

The sole looks awesome. I'm not sure if half a degree of adjustable loft it good or bad? It's simple and direct with little fussing, but would I prefer more? I say it's good to have options across brands, so while other OEMs like Titleist offer more adjustability this lesser adjustability is a nice addition to the market.

Did i read that right its only adjustable by +/- 1/2°  So a 8.5° driver for example would only got up to 9.0° and down to 8.0°? Aren't the 910's adjustable by +/- 1&1/2° in 3/4° increments? 8.5 could go up to 9.25 then 10.0? if i got the 910 chart right...
