It's definitely a good sign, and he looks to be hitting the ball much better. But if I remember correctly, last year he started out much the same way and faded back to mediocrity.

It'll be exciting to see him back in contention, but I'll wait till after the Open Championship to see whether or not he's back for sure.

I think he is definitely on the road to being back. I really hope so. Gotta pull for DD everytime he tees it up.

I have to agree, DD has always been one of my favorites and its so hard not to pull for him. I think Faldo put it in a great way today about what happened to Duval, "He just lost his way for a bit." I feel this is very true, it seemed as if he got more into his family, which is so important, and being happy, which I applaude him for. Golf cant be the only thing that makes him happy, nor any of us, it is his job, and he has done well. He will be back.

I think this could possibly be his turning point. He needs a top 10 finish at the tournament which he shot a 59.

Perhaps my glass is half empty, but it was one round in a five round tournament. I need a top 10 finish to say "he's back".

I have to agree, if he can put together 5 good rounds this week, then he will be on his way back.

I love his golf swing, his game, and the way he has handled his personal life off the course.

He has been an excellent example of how a true professional handles professional and personal setbacks.

GO DAVID :yahoo:

Well, Rocco followed him and he said himself that he thought that DD was back. I hope Rocco is right because I think it would be awesome to have another player of DD's caliber up there contending. Hell, before Tiger and VJ were #1 it was DD in the spotlight.

David has always been my favorite golfer on tour. It would be nice to see him playing again. :clapping:

Watched the entire round on tourcast, as well as TGC coverage, and must say that his swing looked much tighter than it has in some time. He really could have gone quite low yesterday, but missed several reasonable birdie putts in the 7-12 foot range (and one inside of five feet). Driving was still not great, but he hit his irons VERY well, and had some key par saves on two holes that really kept his round going.

Would love to see him back. It is a matter of drive and confidence now. He seems to have reclaimed his desire to be great, and his swing appears to be steady. Now it is a question of whether his mind and emotions will allow him to succeed. one thing is for sure - if he wins, it will be as big a story as any on tour, and PLENTY of family, friends, and fans will have a lot to celebrate.

One good round does not constitute a comeback. He's started off last year with a couple of good rounds but he couldn't seem to consistently string them together. I'll wait a couple of month to see how he plays before I lay the "Comeback" annointing oil on him.
