Does anyone here on WRX have any input on the Ping 4 Series Bag? I was at Golf Galaxy getting some grips when I saw this bag on the shelf and it just seemed perfect to me: the weight, the look, the functionality. So I went home that night and bought it on eBay for $120 including shipping ($30 cheaper than retail). I know this bag is new for 2012, but does anyone here have it already and want to share what they think about it?

Much appreciated.

This is the only bag that I am tempted by for a possibly upgrade. I have a SM 3.5 currently. I am just not sure if there is a better bag for me. I like Ping clubs so if there is one, this is it. Report back when you get it, if you would please.

I have the Royal/white one and love it. Much improved over 2011 version.

The handle makes a huge difference in ease of transportation and the leg stops are what this bag needed a long time ago

I've had a lot of bags and just bought the 4 series 2012 last month. I've played 4 rounds with it and it's my new carry bag of choice. Recommended.

I'm very happy with mine. GolfWRX did an extensive review on the bags earlier this year. If you do a search you should be able to find it.

You got it. Scheduled delivery is friday. I'll let you know this weekend after I play a round with it. Probably going to do a WITB too so I'll let you know when that happens too because I will talk about the bag in that.

I'm also in your boat as well. I have the Titleist Lightweight Stand Bag which is almost the same bag as the Sun Mountain 3.5 so our transition from one bag to the next would be the same. I'll keep you updated.

I have the 4 Series. I had the SM3.5. Next bag will be the SM. The Ping bag is light, has adequate pocket space, and has been durable, BUT, what sets the SM apart IMHO is the carry straps. The SM straps seemed to work better than the Ping. Specifically, the SM had a "pad/square" where the straps meet in back. The Ping doesn't have this and sometimes the straps twist. I know it's not a big deal, but I don't want to be concerned about anything about the bag. I think that the SM 3.5 with that pad is the SM 3.5 Deluxe version, which runs about $20 more than the regular SM 3.5 That being said--$200 for the SM Deluxe or $120 for the Ping 4 series--both are great, lightweight choices. I just like the SM better.

Great! I have read other reviews that are encouraging. I mostly play Ping stuff so it would make sense for my bag to say Ping. Without a single Titleist club, I currently play a Titleist (Sun Mountain) bag because i felt it was the best one out there when I bought it. It has not let me down.

One concern that I have with the 4 Series is the water bottle pocket placement. I like to grab a swig on the fly. It seems as though with its position on the Ping, this would be difficult to do. Not a big deal I could just change my routine. Good luck with your new Ping bag!

Ditto.  noticeably lighter than the '12 vantage/voyage or whatever they call it.

I've had the 4under bag for 3 years, and its on its last legs. Mine is red and white and the red has faded almost to pink. I think I made a mistake in getting that bag, it is no where near big enough to hold all my stuff. I live in Wyoming where the weather changes quickly so to have packed a full set of rain gear and even a warm vest or stocking cap for when it really cools off it's all that poor bag can hold, when its fully loaded out, its almost bursting at the seams. But that being said, for the price and what it is (a lightweight bag) its a good one. So keep in mind if you don't need to hold weather gear, and don't over load it with other stuff, it remains lightweight and really easy to carry. The strap system is awesome too.

I got the bag Friday and I am definitely impressed. The bag is very lightweight, and all of the pockets fit perfectly into the bag. The ball pocket is awesome and is easier to access and more spacious than the Titleist and SM bags. I also like the new strap system that PING is putting in their bags. They call it E2.

The only 2 downsides to this bag is that there is a little bit of club tangling and the legs aren't as good as I want them to be. BUT I just regripped my cubs with 2 wraps of the new Tour Wrap 2G which are very tacky. So I'm sure any other grip would be just fine, and even with my grips you don't really notice it that much.

The legs could go out a little further and have bigger pads at the bottom, but regardless the stand mechanism still works great and better than other past PING bags.

I would definitely recommend the bag. It is much lighter than the SM bags, and I think it looks better too.

Hope this helps.

I can put up some pics if you guys want them.

I have the original 4 under bag (white/royal) and have a huge rip in the ball pocket.  I brought it to my local golf shop and they told me PING had problems with this one and the white/maroon bag.  The material wasn't as durable as other colors.  I'm hoping PING will fix or replace for me.  It is by far my favorite bag.  If not then the Hoofer C1 at $120 is an attractive 2nd option.

Can anyone compare the storage capabilities of this bag vs the new Hoofer?  The 4 series has 6 pockets vs 8 on the Hoofer, but just wondering how that translates to real world storage.

FWIW, I had every intention of getting the 4 series but ended up getting the Sun Mountain 2011 3.5 SL.  I love the 4 series, and play all Ping clubs so it made sense to me, but the 3.5 seemed to be as light if not lighter and with a tad better storage.  I haven't taken it to the course yet, but I would assume the additional divider in the 3.5 (4 series just has 2) will also help prevent tangling.
