With the new version of the site i'm noticing more and more avatars when reading through threads. I'm all for each user having a way to distinguish themselves, but wish their was a way like in the old version with the sig to hide the info and only see an avatar or graphic when i choose to.

As much as i love to see girls with big boobs or girls playing golf in short skirts or some random golf pic, some people like to surf the site in public or especially at work. the old version was great in the setup and look of the site. nothing too fancy or graphic and easily readable without a ton of scrolling. now the site looks trashy and full of graphics. its not even the type of pics as much as just having the extra space to scroll because of the pics. is it really necessary to have blank cutouts of a person for people with no avatar?

will there ever be a way to change a setting to eliminate all the 'extras '. I'm sure there are plenty of users that like them, but for me if i want to see random golf pics i can search google images or the web is a pretty big place if i want to check out hot girls.

wish the forum threads would have a clean easily readable view without all the extra junk. i actually think the old version looked more modern while the new version looks like it stepped back in time. whats next...the thread creator gets to pick their background and music.

I'm with you here.

Is there any way to disable viewing others avatars?  Some of the avatars on here aren't really work safe.  Considering that i do most of my forum browsing during work hours, if this site remains as-is I won't be coming on here any longer

You can make avatars go away on your own if you use Firefox and Adblock Plus. Simply add "golfwrx.com##LI.avatar" to your list of filters. There you have it, no more avatars.

Thanks. This worked for me with Adblock Plus.

There used to be an option on the site to disable avatar photos, but I don't see it. Is this feature gone? Is it possible to re-enable it?
Thanks

If you see nsfw avatars then report them.  You can also use the mobile version of the site.

It's never crossed my mind that this is a problem for anyone. I don't have a problem with any avatars, although some are more work safe than others. For those of you who are having a problem with avatars, do you also have a problem with the, once a year, Holly Sonders look at my bo..err bu..err swing?  The worst nsfw pics, on this site, came from the site IMO.

I also find it ironic that the OP started this thread and has an avatar with a women with her chest stuck out. I've looked, there are other pics of this female golfer that are less exposed.

I thought the same thing about the his Natalie Avatar. Now granted, he made that post in June, he could have since decided...to if you can't beat them join them, and just put that Avatar up recently.

That said, I like having Avatars, it puts an identity if you will to the poster.  Since this is the faceless internet, it puts a face to the member, if not their own, then something that says a bit about their personality or interests.

NSFW avatars?
I've yet to see one... or maybe I'm not visiting the right threads.
They are tiny as well, maybe if some were full page pics you wouldn't want them popping up on your screen, but I hadn't realised it was an issue for some.

As mentioned above, I like having an avatar option, along with a sig, it's a simple way to personalise the wrapper around your posts.
