Curious if anyone could give me some details on these shafts:
UST MAMIYA KATSU (Ironmaxx)
Can't really find much info on them. I'm looking for a relatively low cost graphite iron shaft in .355t that isn't junk to try out in a few spare sets of irons. Searched all over, but can't find any details on the Katsu.
They are listed on ebay, and the seller has a bunch.  I don't know if they were a proto iron shaft or something, or if they were just junk that they made for a company like Dick's to use in Maxfli or Hagen irons.

Any help would be great. If you search ebay for Katsu you'll see them.

Can you be more specific about "relatively low cost"?

Aldila as their 'value series' graphite iron shafts - unfortunately I've never tried them or known anyone who has.

Hello,

These shafts were made by UST for a company that in turn sells them as an after market .355" Taper Tip Graphite golf shaft to the golf world of people that are seeking a good quality graphite shaft for their taper tip iron heads. Shafts are paint finished with amazing brilliance and radiance and have very good material specifications for the price point. They offer two models in Regular Flex; 1. The KATSU-NP is for most .355" Taper Tip Irons heads that require Ferrules and Ping™ models that require Ferrules as well and 2. The KATSU-P is for Ping™ .355" Taper Tip Iron Heads they do not require Ferrules. Additionally, in the future they plan to have Senior, Stiff and Extra Stiff Models as well. Hope this aids your question.

Sounds like you might work for the company selling them ;) I got that info from their ebay ad, I guess in the end I hoped that someone actually used the shafts before and could comment on them.
Anyway, here is the info I got from UST.
"These are made for a distributor in Tennessee.  They are sold as components by this company called Florek. The IronMaxx shafts are a fairly standard shaft.  Very similar to our Competition Series iron shaft!  70 grams with mid torque and mid flex point."

In a perfect world where $ is not an option I'd put in a set of Steelfibers, and when I figure out what iron set I'm sticking with I wanted to try something out that wasn't going to set me back $40/shaft.  I'd only be doing 5-pw so I figured if I stuck around the $20/shaft area it wouldn't be too expensive.

I can get a crappy set of oem made for shafts to try, but if these were actually decent I wouldn't mind giving them a go and maybe not worry about the steelfibers.

Did you buy and try them?  Feedback please, thanks.
