Hi everyone,we all know how technical the game of golf swing is and that we can suffer with too many swing thoughts out on the course.

I try and keep it simple with only two thoughts as I swing. On upswing I just think of a good shoulder turn as if I'm pointing my left shoulder to the toes on my right foot. On the downswing I think of coming through with a flat left wrist at impact.

What do you guys think about when you're swinging?

I feel like I've recently "seen the light" and focus on hitting down through the ball.  I've always been a bit if a sweeper, but noticed some incredible ball flight when hitting down through the ball as a 'digger' might.  I spent a decent amount of time working on it, too.  So, my thought:  Hit down on the ball.

Concentration on the ball. Everything else is no longer important once the swing has started.

One piece takeaway...then follow through to balanced position...basically let the ball get in the way of the swing.

Things get ugly when I start hitting AT the ball rather than swinging THROUGH the ball.

I think your backswing thought is great.  Your downswing thought can be problematic because there is no possible way you can purposely put your left wrist in that position.

If you just like thinking of that feel, that is fine, but be careful you are not trying to purposely put your left wrist in that position at impact.

If these work for you, I wouldn't want you to fix what ain't broke and feel is not reel, etc...but more than one of those can produce nasty results.

I have the same backswing thought. My downswing thought is to focus on the spot where the ball was and not come out of the shot.

Only one thought... I wonder if the babe in the next fairway is married?

Seems to keep me from too many other distracting swing thoughts clouding my mind.

Yep.

When I first started picturing the target I was hitting nasty pulls, realized I should really only think of the target at impact.

I am still very much learning to play. My index is 23.1, playing the ball down, no mullis no gimmes. I fight a hook and coming over the top. I tend to get on my toes and dip my head. The thoughts in my head change week to week.

I do believe that would end up as a quick release, unfortunately.   :partytime2:

Tom Watson's book suggests the swing thought of "Ed-El-Weiss" (from the sound of music movie) as a timing thought.  That is what I am mentally 'saying'.  The Ed takes me to the parallel back position, El to the extent of the back swing, and Weiss for the down swing.  This is (I think) like the 3/1 swing timing that is often mentioned on here.  The main function is to keep me from swinging too fast (which is a shot killer for me).  Helps me if if remember to do it.

That being the case, I would eliminate all of them.  Except for posaibly coking the wrists.

Scarlett Johanssen.

Lately, it's been keep the face square to the targetline as long as I can for the first 12" of the bs.

visualizing the shot, balance, waggle, rhythm, and pivot............. and 'an alert mind of indifference'!

I can actually hold quite a few thoughts in my mind as I reel off a check list in my swing.......... I'm trying to get this more automated but it could take another 200,000 balls lol

However most important swing thoughts that improved my swing was totally focusing on a relaxed rhythm and tempo throughout the swing, slow on back swing and accelerating through impact and not rushing the transition to a full finish............. this improves consistency more than anything imo.

While adressing the ball my only thought is to "GO" as soon as I ground the club. I hover until just before I am ready to pull the trigger. If I stand over the ball too long with the club grounded all sorts of bad things happen.

Then...........

Stand tall..........stay inside the ball
