What's the lesson? Build a player up and then cover your head when he $#!%s on you?
Shame. When these guys fall on hard times it's these events that they call up wanting sponsors exemptions for.
The players need to adjust their mentalities. It's THE FANS that are independent contractors.
The history lesson to which I'm referring is that when an iconic player passes away, the players who used to pay their respects stop doing so. It happened with Hogan, later with Nelson, and I'm sure in other parts of the country it's happened with others (Bob Hope for instance?).

Side note, does it diminish the legacy when we see a corporate logo in front? The HP Byron Nelson Championship ... I don't like the look of it.

Know what just occured to me? If the PGA (and sponsors) really wants to know what tourneys are important? They just need to look at WRX pages.
Every week, there is a "XXXXX discussion, spoiler!".
The majors really do seize attention ... I think the Augusta thread started on around Monday or Tuesday, and we had 9 or 10 pages of comments before the first guy even teed off.
The Players - it was close, but it was only about 3 or 4 pages before play started.
This week? We've now finished the second day, and we're on page 2.
Weird, huh? I'd be vwilling to bet there is a direct correlation between the numbers of pages of comments on WRX, and the relative A, B, or C status of a tourney.

I thought it was funnier that the golf channel used apple computers in their Thursday intro.

Looked like some clothing company got a hold of Jason after his win. He looked a bit more stylish today. Dude is playing some good golf right now.

I agree, though I guess it's a necessary evil in today's big bucks PGA Tour. It still the Colonial National Invitational to me, even though it's been about 20 years since it was last called that.
I used to argue that if you want to see better fields in DFW, start cheering for the guys that live in DFW. That doesn't even work anymore as KJ Choi lives less than 25 minutes from both venues but is skipping both for the 2nd year in a row. Jason Day called Colonial home until he moved to Columbus but is no where to be seen on the committment list for next week. Mahan lives 15 minutes from the Nelson, but is no where to be seen for the 2nd year in a row. I could go on, but you get the point.
I've gotten so indifferent about golf that unless someone who I actually know and like is in contention, I barely watch or even pay attention.

That was an incredible sequence from Phil. One of the greatest recoveries I've ever seen from him, and that's really saying something.
Phil really put himself in a good position until he took that double on his final hole. Boy, does he do that a lot...it's maddening.
But Phil looked great out there. He looks fit and trim, and appeared to be enjoying himself.

The course doesn't suit Palmer's eye at all, so his caddy James Edmondson called every shot last year while Ryan read the putts. He literally let James pull every club.
Ryan talked about "redemption" coming into this week, and he's playing well again. For a guy who learned the game in this area, he really doesn't have the greatest career record in this event. Must be the course.
We really have a nice leaderboard taking shape, and these gusty breezes are making the guys work hard. Very fun to watch.
Phil really could've been in this thing big time, but too many loose swings have bitten him. And he's also suddenly struggling with the putter.

He actually grew up in Amarillo, about 6 hours away but now lives maybe 20 minutes from Las Colinas. For whatever reason, TPC Las Colinas doesn't suit his eye. However, letting James call the shots got RP into a playoff last year which was in the only time he's ever made the cut there.
He's been playing very good lately, just seems to have one bad round per tournament.
I really like this leaderboard. Lots of local guys I love to pull for every week. Palmer, Campbell, and Henry are all very active in our community and some of the best guys you could ever hope to meet. Assuming this leaderboard holds out, I'll have to go out there and cheer them on tomorrow. I don't typically like going to the Nelson but may have to make an exception this year. While I pull for the locals, the non-locals on that leaderboard are good guys as well. Should turn into a fun Sunday to watch.

Can the great Vijay Singh pull out his first victory in almost four years? It would be his 35th TOUR title.
Can Jason Dufner join Hunter Mahan as the only two-time winners on TOUR this year? His Final Round Scoring Avg. of 72.00 ranks 108th on TOUR.
Or will Jason Day, who is feeling a lot better (back issues) these days, finally win his second TOUR title?
And how about "Kuch?" Or Keegan Bradley? They both stumbled a bit on Saturday. It should be an interesting final round, and that traditional Sunday pin on #17 is sure to create some drama, especially with the forecasted gusty conditions.

Phil could really use a top ten finish this week. Let's hope he keeps it going today.

He's just 3 back now, he might have sights on something better than merely a top 10!
