Is it just me or is anyone else getting a headache watching "Down the Stretch" on the golf channel. Someone needs to buy a steady cam! Is this an attempt to be hip and edgy or does the cameraman have parkinsons? A true sign of a director over using device.

Not specifically about "Down the Stretch" but still annoying tv.
This weekend they were pushing the "365" view of the swings at The Players.  I hated it.  It looked cheap and since it was just one static position didn't offer anything new.  Made me really mad they weren't using Swing Vision.

Yeah, I didnot agree with the 360 look in the swing, a waste. Also they were doing the same thing with the putting and the breaks and elevation, I didn't care for that either use one view angle and break it down from there.  What was wrong with the  blue line overlay showing the break? It was wrong occasionally due to pace, so what.

Back to the original post, the camera jiggling is a technique ( probably computer generated)  to show that its  amatuer video, unrehearsed, not set up. Although I have not seen down the stretch, it looked compelling.

360 is dope!

I added 180 yds to my drives

I meant to say 360.  I guess it felt like years.
I wonder if stretch is just cheaply produced with all handheld digicams and interns shooting it.

They should really use the protracer more.... It seems as if that is what a lot of people like to see, myself included.

The 360 camera is certainly not the Konica Minolta Biz Hub Swing Vision, I love that thing and Kostis is fantastic  detailing swings.  The ProTracer is the best thing NBC has going for them.

I will say, I love the Down the Stretch show, it's almost like a Golf 24/7, pretty compelling TV.

I think the show could be a lot better based on the one I saw.  From the one I watched, Honda Classic, it was about 75% replaying what already happened from different camera positions.  I was hoping to see a lot more behind the scenes stuff.  We already watched the golf.  They don't need to replay that for us.  Give us the stuff we didn't get to see in the normal broadcast.

I think the show is pretty good.....i'll totally grant that the one for the players a tad weak (i agree, they just showed a lot of the tournament coverage)....but usually it's pretty solid.....you get to see players in the fitness trailers, what they do the night before and morning of.....like rory when he went to the miami heat game, how harris english warms up for a round, justin rose's pre-round routine, kevin streelmen's sunday morning singing, etc etc etc....

the style is a little silly....but welcome to the ADD twitter age that we live in....flashy and frenetic is the order of the day....but when you look past that, the content is pretty good.....it's encouraging at the very least....better than more michael breed or martin hall instruction....or rosaforte brown nosing and name droping.....i'll take down the stretch any day!

I like Down the Stretch but the camera work is pretty annoying. I'm sure that they could film it normally and still keep the show compelling.

I liked the show content. My original post was about the heavy use of SHAKY cam. We are in trouble if the current hipster generation finds shaky cam is superior to steady cam.  I can't wait to see the cars these kids make! Idiocracy here we come!

I'm usually playing on the computer while watching/listening to the show and don't really notice it.
The thing I do like about the show is hearing what the golfer and caddy  are talking about. Pretty cool to hear some of their thoughts and emotions.

You guys have convinced me.  I'm going to watch the next couple of weeks to see if it's improved since I watched it last.

My two teenage golfing sons LOVE the show. Seems to connect to their sense of image and style. They like the way the show is produced. But they also love golf and are interested in personalities of the players. The show works for them. And that means it promotes golf to the next generation.
