No love for the Hammer X? Surprised and disappointed in equal measure.

Nike tour Ignite 410 9.5ged with a UST Proto, sick accuracy.  I have poor tempo at times, especially with the driver, and only my worst swings miss the fairway.  With other drivers I have had to be MUCH more focused on my swing.  I have tried and tried to get this thing out of the bag, but nothing's been able to do it.  I have spent a lot- by my standards- of money trying to find a driver that will permanently replace the 410 but I have yet to find one.  I might be close with my current stick but time will tell.

This set up is the definition of "fairway finder" for me.

I have two, and both of them are listed in different posts:

J33R and 510 TP with 757 Speeder. My friends had told me that my j33Rs (got three in play currently)is just a bigger and more modern 510TP. And they might be absolutely correct. I just replaced my BB with a Project X in my 9.5 J33R and I don't think that the Razr fit will beat it.

My best combo is what I'm hitting now.  TM SF 2.0 TP 8.5 with Oban Kiyoshi X flex at 46". Nothing has been able to kick it out of the bag.

My favorite combo of all time was my Launcher 400 9.5* with an older Harmon Tour Design CB 70 Stiff tipped 1/4" at 44.75". That thing launched perfect fades that averaged 295, and I haven't come close to anything like that since. I hit my longest bomb for many years until recently (340) with it.

For me it's my current driver, Wishon 919 THI 9.5 with Talamonti PD70x ver 1. Long and straight. I used to use the driver sparingly (TM Superdeep) because I couldn't hit the fairway. Not so with the Wishon, driving accuracy is back up to around 70%

TM 300 Tour w/ Speeder 757. I still take it out every once in a while and wonder why I'm not playing it every day. The most solid feeling driver ever.

I have to be honest, I have been through about 15+ Drivers in my 14 or so years of playing, and none have really stuck out and made me say wow. Still on a quest, and in fact plan to get pretty detailed some point this year and get fitted, launch numbers, etc…

My Adams 10.5 9015D with Oban 6, has been the driver I have hit the longest, but I did not have the swing at the time to hit consistently.

I attribute my lack of having a “favorite” driver is all due to user Error.

983k or my current setup. Of course, like many here, I'm not smart enough to stick with anything. Picking up a D2 head today to play with.

So far, it's an Adams 9064LS on an Oban Kiyoshi shaft.  Before that, it was an Adams 9015D.  I flirted briefly with an Adams F11 on a Fujikura Motore F3 shaft, but newer wasn't better, and the 9064LS went back in the bag.

My ears are hearing the siren song of the Fast 12 LS these days, though....might have to give one a test drive.   :-)

Adams Golf has some amazingly good products (including the set of CB2 irons in my bag).  I'm thinking of making this thought my signature line:  Dear TaylorMade, please don't screw up Adams Golf with your acquisition the way Callaway ruined the Hogan brand.

I also just got in a 9064LS with the Red RIP stock shaft, going to  take a few drivers out today, and try and narrow down #1 and #2.

How does that Oban Kiyoshi perform in that 9064Ls head, ball flight, feel, numbers etc....

Seems like every Nike driver I hit resulted in longest drives for me.  My 460 sq on 55gram stiff NV may be best combo for me.  In bag for 2 years.  Found another sq in mint condition with Diamana shaft at Golfsmith last week, 24 dollars....it too is long and straight.  Last new driver I bought:  Cleveland 270 with 39 gram kua I sent back....yuk.  Conversely I just hit the Cleveland Classic with 47 gram shaft with 290 weight head and in a simulator at least, was 13 yrds longer than my Nike.

But to the point: My best setup, Nike SQ 460, NV 55gr Stiff.

My all time favorite!  Always on the look out for a replacement, my original developed a hairline crack on the crown, and I have never been able to find another..

golfdawg:  Haven't had the 9064LS on a Trackman yet, so I can't give you numbers.  Can tell you that the feel is very solid, a lot like the 9015D.  The shaft produces a high launch and the 9064LS head keeps it pretty flat.  I don't find a pronounced kick to it, yet it launches fairly high.  I find that the flight is very controllable - my swing speed is probably somewhere around 105 right now, but on a hard fairway not surrounded by death, I can hit a low bullet that will roll forever.  But unless the ground is quite soft, a normal drive will still generate some decent roll-out.

Tom Wishon made a comment recently about the importance of how a shaft FEELS to the golfer - tech data all matters, but the best fittings are done with the fitter and the golfer together, so the fitter can capture the more subjective aspects from the golfer, as well as the numbers.  I took a gamble buying the used Kiyoshi shaft without having hit one, but got a good deal on it and the guy who does all my club work and knows my swing recommended it highly -  it turned out to be a good match for me and my swing.  It just plain FEELS good to swing.

I have a Motore Speeder VC 6.0 on a G15 with less loft, and it's a good setup - I love the feel of the shaft, but can't bring myself to do anything more than tinker with it.  The 9064LS and Kiyoshi combination just works too well for me on the course.

At some point, I'll try the Fast 12 LS, which is supposed to be even more forgiving and have a little more distance to it, but going to any shaft other than the Kiyoshi might be slightly traumatic.    :-)

If I were smarter than I am, I'd stay away from the Fast 12 LS and be happy with what's in the bag.  But......

Callaway X-tour 460 with GD YS-6. By far the longest driver i have ever used. Its been in the basement since 2009. Just brought it back out and added 15-20 yards right away. It's not leaving the bag. Beat out my r11 TP easily.

I still play a Cobra HS-9 (yes, the 10 yr old one)  with the factory Graphite Design shaft and I have not found another driver that can kick this one out of the bag.  I have an Adams 9064LS that I game every once in a while in the summer when the fairways around here dry up and the ball will roll for 2 days....

Another vote for the 983 K.  It was such a huge step up from everything else on the market when it was introduced.  Aside from the adjustabilty (or lack of) standpoint I think it could hang with any of today's offerings with a good shaft in it.
