I have a buyer of my 3 wood EGG asking for shipping costs from my home in New Jersey to Melbourne, Australia. I called my local post office, but as per the usual, got the run around. I can always bring the club in to the PO to have it weighed and costed out, but wanted to get some guesstimates on costs.

I sent a putter to OZ for around $40 USPS.  I would estimate a little more for the length of the club box.  Probably $55.

Measure the exact dimensions of the shipping box. Weigh the box plus the club plus the packing material. Find out the postal code of the destination.

Then go to the USPS.com and type in all of that information along with your ZIP code and the expected date of shipment. You will get an exact quote for the postage cost and be offered the opportunity to buy a pre-paid shipping label at a small discount online.

No need to figure "a little more" or make a guess or ask someone else to guess for you. Why not find out the actual answer, it takes less time than asking about it here. And then you'll know.

You might also want to charge him a couple bucks extra for doing the Customs paperwork. You also need to factor in a few rules for international shipments, for instance the box must have one side at least a certain width (usually around 7 inches) so that the Customs form in its Customs enclosure will completely fit without folding over a side. There is a definite PITA factor for international shipping beyond the extortionate cost and long delivery time.

P.S. And never call the Post Office for a shipping quote. They aren't going to tell you anything useful until they see, measure and weigh the actual package. Which you can do yourself and check online.

USPS website has a tool that you can use to calculate the postage online. They also list all of the restrictions.  This is important because there are size limits on overseas shipments depending in the destination..  I ran into this issue a few years ago when I tried to send a driver to Australia and I couldn't package it within the limits.
