hi all, i went for another lesson on sunday (second lesson, first was swing analysis in which he had me lagging my irons on downswing) and he had me putting the ball forward in my stance using a 7 iron. since doing this a lot of my shots are going off to the left and divots pointing in an 11 o' clock position, is this down to the ball being forward in my stance is my question. he did mention something about weight distribution in my next lesson. since having these lessons i have been hitting the ball more solidly and my instructor's reputation is excellent therefore i trust everything he tells me, just curious. thanks all.

That is perfectly fine. Don't pay attention to your divots. If you do, just make sure that they're not too deep on the toe or heel side.

I had a hard time not analyzing my divots until I watched a pro hit a perfectly straight shot with a divot pointing suprisingly far to the left.

Divots mean and reveal virtually nothing.
