Seems like the majority of the Tour plays them.

I'm a firm believer that these guys will play what is best for them and what they are most comfortable with.

Golf Pride more than likely compensates them a bit, but they could always use Tour Velvets, Z-Grips, VDR, or Tour Telvet Cords.

I'm between the Multicompounds and Z-Grips ... haven't been able to get my hands on a Z yet though

No, IMO. The 3GEN are tackier with cheaper

I still have them in my woods but once they're done I'll switch to either the colourful 3GEN or gripmaster

I really like them, but only get them when i need to replace a driver or wood/hybrid, as the irons just have regular rubber grips, so, not gonna change every iron, as too costly.
Bottom line should be to ALWAYS use what fits/like best (of course, within affordability purposes).

P.S. - Talking about the golf prides new decades.

I see more Tour Velvet Cords than anything else out there, but...

...some players prefer the Multi-Comp feel. I have a friend who re-gripped his i15s with them and loves them. I've had a few individual clubs with them and don't personally like them. I prefer the Tour Velvet Cord. I think the Multi-Comp just has too much texture. It chews up my hands with it's rougher surfaces.

I went with the Tacki-Mac Full Cord though recently because the were about one-third the price of Golf Pride and seem to be just fine so much as I can tell. It was $45 for 13 grips on Ebay versus $10 each!

i really like NDMC, but they are very pricey at a little under $10/ea. black widow makes a multi compound that I've heard is just as good as the GP MC's but ive never tried them.

the only things i dont like about the GP NDMC's is the price and they wear out very fast if you spend a lot of time on the range like i do. luckily i spend a lot of time with my 8 iron (150yd club) and wedges, so i dont have to replace all 14 regularly, just a few.but i absolutely love the way they feel.

They are way to rough on my "meat hand" even when I'm wearing a glove on the other hand. And as I generally don't wear gloves unless my hands are real sweaty they're just too rough, period. I've never had even the slightest problem with a club slipping when using a Tour Velvet Cord and a Titleist Players Glove. And for 90% of the time I don't even need the glove. So chewing holes in my fingers with the NDMC for no good reason just doesn't appeal.

But I've recently switched to the non-rubber option of Lamkin 3GEN which is even more comfy. So far, no slipping with those either although I suspect I'll wear a glove with them in July and August.

I have the Black Widow equivalent on my woods, the Widow Makers, and I like them a lot. Feel a lot like the golf prides, good quality, but IMO better looking (I don't like the GP logo) and less expensive. But as a whole, I prefer full cord over the half cords, and as such, have the Black widow full cords, the Torque, on the rest of my clubs.

I love them, but last year I tried the GP BCT cords and liked them just as much or not more.

Golf Pride MC Decades are great grips, the cost is what holds me back from fully committing to using them.  There are plenty of grips out there for less cost that will perform as good as the decade.  Plus the way the decade wears, seems like they wear out a little too fast for my liking.

Usually play something with cord in it but got tired of hangs getting ripped apart and cracking.  Went to the new Tour Wrap 2G and find it as good as anything out there in terms of grip and tackiness, plus seem to help with grip pressure as they have a little more cushion than some of the harder rubber grips.  The Iomics are just as good as Tour Wraps 2G IMO but the cost again, but the IOMICS last a long long time!

I like the multicompounds but my complaint is that the lower non-cord part tends to gets slick and hard too fast.  Been moving towards tour velvets- works well and less expensive.  - Nevin

Thats my biggest worry. My friend cleans his after every round to preserve the bottom part, but man, who wants to clean their irons after every round or range session?

Grips might be the most personal "feel" choice in a bag.  I always liked Tour Velvets, went to MC's, then to VDR's for a couple of seasons, then decided to try the MC's again and love them.  The white-outs feel much firmer to me and a little harsh.  I really don't like a mushy grip and prefer something firmer, but they feel more like sandpaper than traction.

I was very disappointed with my VDR's. They feel hard and slick. Not a good combination.

I played MC's for 5 seasons and they were great grips. I just couldn't get myself to pay the price for them this year so I switched to VDR's. I must say at first I was hesitant about the VDR but for not being a corded grip they are surpsingly firm and have a rougher than expected feel once installed. I play all my grips with 2 full wraps of tape and they built up for my hands ever better than the MC's did. They seem to feel like they have a little less taper and are a little thicker than the MC's. Both are great grips but if they MC's were the price of the VDR I'd probably still use MC's.

If your worried about the cost of multi-compound grips buy the SharPro ones instead of the Golf Pride ones.  Sharpro was actually the first ones with the multi-compound grip and there really is no difference...unless you really want to pay for name.

I prefer the multi-compound cause I never wear a golf glove.  The cord part gives me good grip, while the bottom is softer for feel.

I've only used MC's on my driver the past couple years. I play a lot and I do think they wear out a bit faster. Going to try out the 3GEN's on my irons, they look good.

It depends on the player 100% with grips. I like the multi comp best but I would say your velvet is the most popular.

I use the sharpro version (who oddly enough is the patent holder for the technology) because they're way cheaper and a little bit thinner. I'm a big fan. I've been using Winn PCI's for 3.5 years or so and these are the first grips I like enough to switch to. Took me a bunch of grips before I decided to go with these. You can get them off the bay for like 48 for 13 grips.

I find they lose their grip and feel very quickly, I play iomic grips on all my clubs I find they are tacky and soft but when it rains they really start to shine. Picked up 13 grips for 60 pound recently bargain

+100!

They feel great for a few months and then are like shot!  I tried the new Multi-Compound white outs and so far they are holding strong after about 2 months.  They will probably be ready to change by the end of the season and I will go with a cheaper grip.  They look great but cost twice as much as other grips that have lasted longer.  The PGA guys can probably get new grips weekly if they wanted so no worries from them about them getting slick but when the cost to regrip a set is the same as a new wedge they need to last longer.

+1 on the Sharpro's. 1/3 the price for almost the same grip. They have a new one out thats 1/2 cord- 1/2 wrap that's pretty nice. I'm using them now and am pretty happy with them so far.
