WHAT UP !!! ... For the 1st time in what seems like forever - I am at home and trying to catch up.

SO ....

I have been trying things lately ... I am pretty settled on every excpet maybe a 3 wood / long hybrid /long approach / medium tee shot club.

I recently played - at random - with a guy who had the 14.5 FW & the 19* Hybrid TI XTDs. I was hitting it pretty good that day and this guy asked me to give his sticks a whack


GOOD LORD !!!! these things are hot / long / good etc etc etc - insert adjetive


I have learned a few things about myself .. and 1 one them is - my eyeball just doesn't like to look at a fairway wood at address on course. At the range - I have my RED S on my chest hitting them a mile. I KILL my Tour T-Rail. I have a Tour XLS I just murder on the range. Get em on course - and my eye just says - you are going to thin that - and as we all know - the body usually follows the preconceived brain suggestions - and I do - thin it is.

I am only looking for a possible 3 wood replacement / 240+ club. I carry the AMP 3 & 4 hybrid - and they are AWESOME. I have em set wide open and wouldn't change a thing. Shafts are perfect (Motore F3s). But they don't make a 2 (gonna harrass CPD to see if they have a covert Tour 2 maybe)

I want a CANNON .. and based on what my brief experince with the 2 I hit and based on what I can find as far as reviews - I think the XTD Super might be the ticket.

SO ... Who has the 15*. Is it as bad a MOFO as I think it is. Looking for any info I can get - there arent a ton of reviews on these hybridS and was hoping a new thread might spark some info

Robo, I went to the cobra site and they list a 17* 2 Amp hybrid.  Is this an error or are you looking for a different model?

Couldn't wait till the Adams demo day and bought a 15* XTD that is probably going to get here sometime this week.  I just killed the steel version (only one available in Canadian golftowns...) and thought it would be a confidence booster over my 3 wood.  

I'll just need to find a great shaft that will promote a piercing flight and some roll without being a pain to hit off the deck. Was thinking about V2 104X, Talamonti H100X or RIP Alpha 85X.  I'd say the Matrix H7.1, stock with the steel SS, felt pretty good as well.

Will put a fw shaft first, since I have a few laying around and I'll report as soon as I get a chance to hit the hell out of it !

Bro - You are correct. I FUBARd. I meant a 1 - not a 2. I am after the loft of the XTD. 17 is as low an AMP goes - and to be honest the XTD is crazy long and launches fairly high - loft for loft.

Got one in the bag.  Only have played 1 round with it, but.....

This thing is a rocket!!  Even with the stock Fubuki stiff which doesn't quite fit my game (I got a stiff bc I couldn't find an X anywhere, have a RIP Beta 85X Hybrid waiting to go in).  I'm semi long but by no means a bomber and I hit this thing uphill 245 into the wind to be pin high on a par 5 - and it went high the whole way, just very little spin but not so little that it fell out of the sky.  

Feels great off the tee too, just enough depth on the face to feel confident and not think you're going to undercut it.  Off the fairway even better, just easy to hit from any lie.  Honestly, I don't see anyway I'm changing this club out anytime soon.

Hope it helps, I'll update with how the RIP Beta plays  in it...off to Phoenix this weekend.(as long as I don't burst into flames - highs of 102*)

Is it a bad MOFO...you bet. Hit it probably 15 yards longer than my 3 wood it replaced a 910F...and it has a shorter shaft. Awesome club.

I have the 17, and it is long. People think it is a 3w. It is so easy to hit, I look to hit it as much as possible.

I bought the XTD 15 hybrid as a 3 wood replacement and this thing is awesome! It doesn't have the best "feel" at the range compared to my 3 wood, but on the course it flat performs and feels powerful (keep in mind I only played one round with it yesterday, lol). Only hit it off the tee 2 times, but sold on both hits. The 3rd hole at Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz is long and it was playing as 245 yesterday. I have played this course about five times and I have never hit that green (prob because I always insist on playing the back tees there, even tho I know I shouldn't be). Yesterday I was almost pin high. Even tho I missed the birdie putt, I walked away totally amazed. I don't have the worry about hooking this club like I do other hybrids. For anyone looking for a 3 wood replacement, this has to be it. I know off the deck it will be a little harder to hit vs off the tee, but off the deck at the range it was still easier than 3 wood.

Just got back from the range...was consistently carrying it 245 with RANGE BALLS. The club is a beast!

ROBO - I went with the 17 degree as a 4 wood replacement.  Much easier to hit and similar distance.  There are two par 5s at my home course where the approach shot is off a down hill lie and I never felt comfortable hitting a 3 wood of those lies.  The Super XTD solved that for me.  If you struggle with thinning it, you don't have to be afraid of hitting down on this club, which makes me feel more comfortable with it in a variety of situations.

Pick up a 15* with a shaft of your choosing at 41-42" and you won't lose any distance compared to a steel 14.5-15 degree 3 wood, except for maybe on your absolute best 3 wood shots.  Size is fairly large for a hybrid too, heel to toe, it's comparable to most 3 woods.  It's a little shorter from the face to the back of the club.  The face is slightly deeper than my Adams F11 Ti 3 wood.

I just picked up a 15* Super Hybrid with the Matrix Altus Shaft. I am pumped for it to arrive tomorrow morning. I will post more once I hit the range and course.

this is exactly what i am hoping to achieve!! i play adams f11(ti) 3 wood, but like yourself i tend to lack confidence with it as soon as i am forced to hit it on the course.  Soo,  i said screw it.  What do i have to lose.  I play an A12 pro 18* which goes about 230, so i ordered the super hybrid 15* hoping to get right in the that 245-250 range.  I will let you know how the yardages pan out.

I've had the 15* SH XTD for a few months now...best club in the bag.  It easily replaced all my 3-woods and hits just as far at 41.5", but much more consistant and easy off the deck...great club!

can someone tell me the difference between the idea super hybrid vs the idea super hybrid XTD?  is it just the shaft?

Matrix Ozik shaft and steel head instead of titanium.

Um...this was out long before TM bought Adams.

*17 XTD hybrid here.  Very hot face, forgiving, great stock shaft...... its a definite keeper for a fairway wood replacement.  With the hot face, it hits the ball too far to be an iron replacement club though.  Fairway replacement?  All day.

I play an Adams Super Hybrid 15 and 19.  (the old one) with a Talamonti Fearless Yellow Hybrid Shaft.  It's my go-to club when I need to be in a fairway off the tee.  I don't kill it...but boy do I hit it striaght.  I'm not looking for any more distance from that club either - so I won't try the XTD until either the price  comes WAY down, or I crush the face in on my current one.  :-)  

Say what you want about Adams stuff....but they have always made damn good hybrids.

I have the SS version and it is very nice. Great penetrating flight and so easy to hit. It is a 15 degree and flies about 25 yards shorter than my 14.5 XTD. I am keeping both in the bag for now, which is interesting, but nice on several holes at my course. I would recommend looking at the SS version. The XTD may be too long. However, the XTD version my have performed closely to my XTD three wood.

Just got my 15 degree XTD hybrid today.  It looks good but for some reason the plastic has been cut away in a circle exactly where the round weight is.  Also the weight is not level with the bottom of the club it is recessed almost a mm deep (.85 mm, or .033").  Is this normal, or was someone messing around with the weight in mine?  Is the weight epoxied in, or is it removable?

Adams has had a problem with those weights falling out. I'm wondering if they re-glued the weight before shipping, and didn't want to remove the protective wrapping.

That makes sense.  Hoping the recessed weight isn't going to collect dirt after every swing.

Last week I went to the shop to check out his club because of the hype. I honestly did not think any club could be that good. OH MY LORD! I have never fallen in love with a club like I have with this. I just can't comprehend a better club. Not hype...it's legit. First $300 club that was worth every penny.

Flap I just got my Super XTD hybrid (19º) back from Adams after being repaired for the weight falling out. My weight is also now recessed from the bottom (it wasn't before). I wonder if they aren't now putting these weights all the weigh in so they can epoxy them at the top as well as the sides? My recollection is that the weight was screwed in, so you would think it wouldn't take much to hold it in place. I'm not wild about how this looks, but I guess I'm going to live with it.

i have the same setup!    proa12  about 230ish,  im hitting the xtd "15  255 ish    amazing club no need for a 3 wood ...  as long and easier to hit

How is the trajectory on the 15*?  I have the 19* and love it!  If 15* is anything like the 19*, I’ll buy it in a heartbeat.
