It's official the 3w has been kicked out of the bag. It didn't really help my game, I wasn't reaching greens in 2 so I started playing smart golf laying up and guess what I scored better lol. Now the question is do I replace it with a long iron or another wedge? I currently play 5-PW with 52,56,60. I was debating on going with a 4i or moving my wedges to 51,54,58,62. Let me know your opinions thanks

I play a 62 degree wedge and I honestly don't see the point of it. IMO, a 60 or 58 will work better and you won't give much up. I would add in a long iron depending on what hybrid you currently have.

Without knowing what the top of your bag looks like (4w/5w/7w/hybrid/etc.), I encourage you to at least experiment with a 64* wedge (Cally, Vokey and Cleveland all make one).  I use it every round, can hit it high, low, full, etc.  Very useful club!

I think im going to have my wedges bent so I don't have to buy another one wedge, so 62 is the highest loft I'm gonna go, but I am leaning toward the 4i I am hitting my 5i so nice right now. O and my woods go driver, 17 and 20.5 hybrid that's it.

is a 5 iron the longest club you have besides a driver?

If you dont want a 3 wood, you could do something like this:
D
5 wood OR 17-18* hybrid
20-22* hybrid OR 3 iron
24* hybrid OR 4 iron
5-PW
52
56
60

IMO, another lob wedge is not necessary.  Look at your yardage gaps and preferred flight, carry, and roll, for a particular yardage gap that's missing.  From there, you can narrow your choices.

Ex: I have D, 5W, 21 hybrid w/short shaft,  5-PW, 51, 54, and 58 wedges, putter.  13 clubs.  I have  no yardage gap (based on carry) larger than 15 yards with most being 8-10 yards.  I'm experiencing with different rollout distance for a similar carry long clubs.

I don't really see any harm in tossing in another wedge.  As you've discovered, it will probably get you in way less trouble than the 3 wood will.

However, if you do start to consistently play 5 wedges, I'm pretty sure Dave Pelz shows up and your house and yells "I TOLD YOU SO!"

Adding a hybrid makes sense to me...bridges the yardage gap and good out of the rough.

You seem to have your wedges covered

My bag right now is

Driver
17 hybrid
20.5 hybrid
5-pw
52,56,60
Putter

I can hit my 17 225-230, so I'm not really hurting to much on the length. I've been hitting my irons great I'm just not sure how much use a 4i will get being that I can play most par 4s with driver- short iron/wedge.

Add a 22* hybrid, aka the 4 hybrid.

I usually don't go for it with a fairway wood, but I like having my 4 wood for par 4's that I don't need a driver. Plenty of really good 4 woods out there. I really like my R9 with the stock motore shaft.

A 4w is the same loft as my 17 hybrid? If not I might try it out. I am not in a hurry to put another 3w in the bag but if I find the right one I will.

Yes, a 4 wood will be the same loft usually as a 17 hybrid. IMO 4woods are totally different animals than 3 woods, especially if you cut one down a half inch.

Give hybrid some play.  If you use it more than 3 times your next round, the keep it.  5 wedges seems a bit much.  I would be willing to bet that no pro carries that many, but if your home course has small greens or high grass surrounding the greens, it may suit you to have the 5th wedge

Even if you don't use it much the 4i makes the most sense in your situation. I would think you have about a 25-30 yard gap between the 20.5 hybrid and the 5i, and since you are hitting the irons great get the other iron.
