Hi guys,

My favorite driver I have ever hit is the Taylormade Superfast TP (the black one) with a RIP Alpha 70 X. I have tried the new stuff and I still get the best numbers and feel out of this club. I was able to get my hands on a Tour Issue head for cheap and I'm looking to build a back up for my old faithful. Im definitely debating just putting a RIP Alpha in it, but I was looking for some suggestions of other shafts I might try that are similar to the RIP Alpha. Any suggestions welcome.

If you are looking to go "cheap" the Proforce V2 76 is a good choice and is only slightly higher launch/spin than the RIP alpha.  If you are looking at more expensive shafts, the Diamana 'ahina 70 or the Ozik HD7 would be worth a try.

I had really good results with a tipped Harrison Saga in a SF-Tp. Maybe 73x? I guess that isn't really the same as the RIP Alpha, but the two seemed to "marry" in very complementary ways.

Good suggestions thanks. Definitely looking to go somewhat cheap, most likely searching for a good pull.

You can pick up Motore F1's for a song, I think my RIP Alpha and F1 play very similar just feel different.

Never done much with the Motore Speeders just a few swings here and there. I don't think there is enough performance difference vs the Rombax line to warrant the price difference but that's just my opinion of course. For the F1 vs Alpha...to me I can feel the F1 load and unload much more than Alpha. I feel like the F1 let's the clubhead lag behind and kicks hard at impact where the Alpha doesn't.

A great shaft that is going to be stiff enough would be the Axe Tour in Tour stiff. It is going to be under 70 grams though. You could look at the Axe 7 in tour stiff that is over 70 grams. Both available from Golfworks for around $50

If you found a tour issue head, your "old faithful" may become the back up..

Roscoe...thats what I was thinking...may be a replacement. What are the main differences in the tour head?
