When I saw him using a standard Oklahoma Sooners stand bag at the Honda, I wondered what was going on with him... This article from yesterday seems to explain.
I kind of felt sorry for him. :/

I have no reason to doubt he's not healthy. Until he is, it's an exercise in futility. He needs to get healthy, even if it means he loses his card. The damage to his psyche will be worse than his physical ailments if he continues down his current path. I sincerely wish him the best.

He sounds pretty banged up and far from 100% physically speaking, let alone mentally speaking.  It doesn't bode well for the rest of the year.  Hopefully that doesn't mean for the rest of his career.

Never a good sign when a tour pro doesn't want anyone to watch him practice....

Me too. Nobody likes to see a pro in the doldrums like that, especially when there is no specific thing you can put your finger on. I know nothing of his personal life or his fitness level both physically and mentally, but I hope it is nothing to do with either - sometimes players simply go "off the boil' for no apparent reason. Hope he turns it around for the better.

Yikes

''My mom told me, 'Hey, there's a caddie that said he made $60,000 caddying at my club. The caddie stays at home and works four days a week. He's made $60,000. You've only made $30,000,' '' Kim said. ''I couldn't do anything but laugh.''

C'mon AK, get it going man.  Either that or take some tiype of medical exemption and heal up so you can actually contend instead of playing and hoping.  Right now, he's not even coming close to making cuts or WD'ing, which I beleive is taking what little confidence he has and killing it.

I'm a huge fan btw..

He's hearing whispers....that's trouble...the best of the best manage to ignore most of that stuff that goes on - in any career.  When you hear the voices, and you react to them, that's bad...IMO.

I hope AK gets himself together.

+1 and right on point. I will add...Consider what it takes to get to that level. At some point, you would have had that ability to ignore the voices..what other people think or say. To get to the point where you lose that ability to tune out others, are you first influenced by hearing your own voice asking those same questions? In other words, have you first lost enough confidence in yourself to where you question your own abilities...then you start paying attention to what everyone else is saying?

Wow, that is pretty sad to read. It sounds like a top 5 finish would really help Kim mentally and so he can keep his card. The best of luck to you Mr. Kim.

AK needs to heal first worry about money second. He's got the game. Even if he has to go back and Earn his card he can do it.

He must lose card and then regain it.  There are no shortcuts out of the hole he's in.

No tragedy, a dose of reality and scraping it on Nationwide will do the young man good.

I hope he gets well.  Makes me sick when a few people posting here said mean things about him.

AK - you are a young guy. Get well soon.  You can turn it around.

Hopefully it all comes back together for him soon. I think he needs a little rest to get 100% healthy. He has the game and the mental toughness - just needs to put it all back together again.

Makes me think of Michelle Wie, when she WD'd from tourney's sighting injuries and everyone was calling BS, that it was just cause she was playing poorly. But she did in fact have a injury holding her back.

AK is one of my favorites. Hopefully he can turn it around!

Wow, I'm guessing that most did not know the extent of his injuries.  Seems like they have been adding up and up.

Wish him the best.  He seems like a friendly lad.

He needs to rest.  No shame in that.  Careers are ended by less severe injuries.

I'm also hoping he heals up quick or tolerates the pain and keeps his card.

People judge the guy by his off-course behavior.. But he's young, he has to live too, even if it's too lavishly until it catches up to him. We're watching golf, not a reality TV show.

Plus, people seem to forget this is the same guy who posted 11 birdies at the Masters, and had a T3 finish as well. He's got the talent to go low, just needs to mentally be there too.

wow a tough story to read
i like AK and really hope he can get back to it

sounds like he needs to heal up, talk to someone about his game and practise hard
really tough reading about him not wanting to hit balls on the range w the other guys.......that would be so hard IMO

on a positive note - hes young and has lots of time to come back

CMON AK WE MISS YA! :friends:

He needs to take a brake if he is that much pain. As much as he wants to play through it playing in pain is never good, especially in golf. Compared to other sports you have to be some much more precise with you action and if the pain is causing him to flinch there is no way he'll hit the ball as he wants. As he said he feels fine but the shots aren't there, its because his body is subconsiously adjusting to keep him out of pain.

He should take 6 months off, get evaluated, do some physical therapy, then come back rested and healthy.

I don't get why if he doesn't have a bag deal he doesn't just use a Nike bag. Presumably he still has a Nike equipment deal. The respectful thing to do would be to promote your equipment sponsor on your bag even if your contract didn't require it.

Good luck to him... I hope that he used that scholarship at OU for something other than beer bongs and frat parties.... What I am saying is that I hope he has something other than caddying to fall back on.

Started playing golf right around the time AK was up and coming and initially thought he was a cocky SOB and didn't like him much...but then watched the energy he brought to the Ryder Cup that year and became a huge fan.

I really feel for him and hope he can turn it around.

For on course issues, I can't really ever feel badly for a professional golfer, on the Nationwide or PGA Tour.  No seriously, I can't feel badly for them.

In regards to his injuries, I can sympathize with him 100%.  He needs to get healed up before he goes after it again.  Going to the Nationwide and winning his way back up the ladder sounds like the right thing to do, without question.

I was going to ask the same question - where's his Nike staff bag?

Sounds like he might be better off shutting it down for a while, getting to a good place physically/mentally and then mounting a comeback.  I'm rooting for him.

Sounds like something a Korean mom would say.    For those wondering...it's not a derrogatory statement...my mom is Korean and while she is a very caring person...she also has a tendency to be brutally honest.

Stuart - Did your mom ever say something that blunt to you?
