Whether we like it or not, suspensions on Golf WRX happen.  I myself walk the line constantly so I never know when my next suspension is coming.  I probably should be suspended a lot more than I have been.  The report button gets me every time.

So lets hear it!  Who has been suspended and how many times has it been?

Never have been.

Though, I feel I might be eventually as I'll eventually go on a rant about how over-moderated this site often seems to be.  In the past I've just left the forum for a few months, then return in the spring when the golf bug gets a full bite.

Never. I don't find that disagreements over golf topics is all that much to get worked up about to the point where you need to be suspended

In all of my six years here, I was suspended once about 4 years ago. I had to take a timeout for a week. :vava:

Live and learn.

Haven't been around as long as a member as some on here, and I've never had a suspension. Personally I'm very political and some subjects come up that I think I could earn a suspension for.
However before I start slapping the keyboard in a backwoods fury, I try to think of an approach that could be slightly humorous, but gets my point across...without blatantly offending the poster I'm replying to. There are a lot of thin skinned WRX'ers on this site that do hold their personal opinions as the word of God, and I try to post in a way that shows their illogical, incomprehensible, and utterly ridiculous reasoning is idiotic....without calling them an idiot. Also there are threads and posts that I do want to respond to badly, but if I can't find away to get my point across without coming across as a total d**k then I just back off because I like it here.

I was put in time out for a day then made things worse and it ended up being a month, ending a few weeks ago :busted2:

I have never been suspended, not much is worth really fighting over anonymously on the internet. I haven't heard too many cases of mods suspending people for generic barbs. Usually you have to say something pretty offensive.

Well you would think...but that kind of thing is relative apparently.  Sooooooo all it really takes is for one moron to bait you into a "loose conversation" and then report you like a no good yella bellied chicken, and then get no warning or explanation.

Not that that actually happens here or anything   <halo over head>

maybe early on in someone's time here it's possible. But i'm sure people have reported me, in fact i know i've been reported on a couple of comments, but i haven't been suspended. I don't think the mods want to ban people, if they know you are a good contributing member it's just tough to imagine them banning someone for one comment unless it's really bad. I know Asleep, Beruo and Hipcheck a little bit from random conversations and they seem like good guys. If anything there are some comments i've seen that warranted banning and haven't gotten them. If you got banned for something un-merited that sucks, but i'm sure it's rare

I used to own and moderate a board that was centered on auctions. At its peak it was getting around 1000 uniques per day (a lot back then!) and I can tell you from first hand knowledge that moderating was a real PAIN. There ws always some nutjob out there who wanted to use the board to post their spam, to attack others, to post adult content stuff, and basically break the simple and common sense rules. Ban them and block their IP - this would only challenge them to figure out other ways to post. In the end eBay basically started its board and mine stopped getting all of those visits. (Man I miss that Google Adsense Income!)

I personally had 10 people who helped me out keeping my board "rated G" as I used to put it. And still some post managed to slip through the cracks and end up online.

Given the visitation to this board I cannot even remotely imagine how hard it must be to keep up. In my experience here the mods are a part of the "family" and are friendly, helpful, and they maintain the integrity of the board by regulation of the content. Sometimes I myself have a hard time figuring out why some post get moved but in the end it's not my call - it is theirs. But I cannot imagine it ever being bragging rights counting the number of times I got myself suspended. Especially given the generally accepting attitude the mods here have. (takes a LOT to get suspended I would wager) This is essentially bragging about "Hey I made the lives of the mods here more challenging and painful." Sorry, but I don't see this as something to be too proud of.

I reported you once. Remember that heated argument we had about the emergence of postmodernism? I contended (and continue to do so) that the genre began with the work of John Watkins Chapman in the 1870's and you said that only applied to postmodern art and that the genre didn't emerge until the 1940's when Arnold J. Toynbee used it in a historical context for the first time.

FWIW you're still wrong, you don't know anything about postmodernism. Yeah I said it.

Oh I'm not proud of it at all.  Believe me.

Who the hell would brag about getting put in Time Out on a dat-gum golf discussion board?

But it happens, no reason why we can't laugh about it later  :drinks:

This is a great topic for several reasons. The first reason is that you get to see all of the characters come out and make hilarious comments. The second reason is that other members can learn from our mistakes.

I have probably been suspended more than anyone else on here. You name the reason and I've been suspended for it. Heck, I even got suspended by accident one time. Mistakes happen.

I would venture to guess that most people get suspended for minor BST infractions.

Whatever the case, remember that the mods are just doing their job. They didn't make the rules, they are just enforcing them. No reason to get upset with them.

I always thought it was a hangover from the Enlightenment, though Chapman coined the phrase in reference to art back in the 1870's. I wonder if he played golf?

I don't think I have been but have been warned at least twice.

Once for having my "Personal" Avatar as a Bunker Babe pulled from Golf Punk magazine.  :fool:
And once for defending the position of a Jr. Boomer who was being attacked by a new member.

The Mod (the same one) flamed out of here a few years ago.  Since then, no issues.

I got done for 60 days for posting something mildly offence about Rickie Fowler's tash. It wasn't even in an argument and worst of all I can't really remember what I said. I think I got stitched up by a fanboy.
