just bought a R540XD TP with accuflex evolution S. never a TM fan (driver) but this one impressed me! the head size is just big enough that doesn't look too big like a melon. the sound of the driver is like 983K,quite then other driver. i don't like loud driver. the head sets up squareor may be sligthly open. when to golf store to try the retail R540XD, they don't fit my eyes(just me) at all because they are all "closed" face. didn't even bother trying them. with this driver, i hit more fairway than before! hope this review help.

I love this driver. Big enough to knock some out there but small enough to control the face. I love this driver

I have the 540DF proto, I believe it's the proto to the 540XD TP. It's shafted with a Six with TP colors, this has to be the most solid feeling driver I've hit ever. It's more solid sounding than any Titleist offering, and it's more solid than the 300 tour, 510DF protos or any driver by anyone.

I have an r7 with a MW-54 in it and a 540DF with the Six, and both drivers spend equal time in my bag, the r7 TP is longer when nutted but the 540DF is the most consistant of any driver I've ever hit. :bb:

I have the r540 XD, which I got at my reintroduction to technology, which I purchased around March, last year. I had been playing the old Callaway Warbird until the shaft broke off from the hosel. Anyway, I hit this driver fairly well, averaging about 265 off the tee. Believe it or not this driver is very similar to the r7 minus the wieghts. I have made the 540 into a formidable weapon, with the addition of the V2 shaft which I can't say enough about. This is a great driver and will stay in my bag because I can shape shots with it, fairly well. I have a new G5, but I can easily see myself spliting time between the two All and all, I'd have to give this driver a 4.

This is one reliable driver, IMO. I have had one ITB for about 6 months, and I've barely looked at an alternative (which is rare for me).

The head is very forgiving, right across the face, and it takes a bad swing to be severely penalised in terms of distance. I have it shafted with the ProLite 35 Stiff, which is a long time favourite shaft of mine, and I find it a nice match to this head.

I find that the head plays reasonably true to loft, with this shaft cmobo, maybe just a touch higher. Spin rates seem spot on for me, with my SS in the 105-115 range.

Distance is fine, with a nice hot feel from the face. I find the distance is consistent, which is something I like. It is rare to get one that disappoints, or that surprises me, either. Very reliable and predictable.

Feel is a little on the muted side, with feedback being less than ideal, but still pleasant feeling, nonetheless.

For me, the 540XD is a great compromise, with distance, forgiveness, good launch characteristics, and decent feel, all wrapped up into a solid and dependable package. It remains ITB. (for now ;) )

I was playing a Callaway ERC & noted that my buddies were starting to out drive me early last year. I can't have that, so I started to shop for a new driver. I refuse to pay over $200 for a club, so my choices were a little limited. I played with a couple of people who used this driver & was really impressed with it. I went to the driving range & demoed a bunch of different drivers, even some out of my price range & none where much if any better than the R540XD.

I picked one up from Golfsmith because they were actually cheaper than ebay with the free shipping. I paid $180. I've been really happy with this club for the last year & a half & almost always out drive my buddies. (that's all that matters, right?)

I demoed a Hibore last week & noted that it was 15-30 yards longer, so now I'm looking to pick one of these up on the cheap.

These things have gotten solid reviews, and mine will be no different.

I've had this driver since January of 06, and since my first range session with it, I've been hitting it better than any other driver. I was using a cheap $60 driver I bought at Sportchek for 3 years before buying this, and I instantly gained 30 yards. I continued using this driver with great success. I've even tried replacing it, but it keeps coming back into my bag because it's so reliable. In September, I bought an R580XD with a Grafalloy Blue shaft, and it didn't work for me, I went back to the R540XD, and recently I bought a Nike Sasquatch, which I'm currently also getting rid of because the R540XD performs better as well.

We'll see how it stacks up against an R510 TP with a Prolaunch, which is the next driver I'm getting (trade pending for my Nike SQ for it). To be honest, I won't be overly shocked if the R540XD is better than that too, the driver is just that solid.

Edited because I can't spell :)
