Thanks, living in the Chicago area, I lug them from the garage to the basement at the end of golf season and was wondering if it was worth the effort. Sounds like it is.

Any opinion on how long it takes before new golf balls go bad? I have several dozen from last year and the year before still on the shelf. I know I shouldn't let them sit around too long, but when do they start noticeably degrading?
To me this seems like a hard question to answer. I would say that they probably loose something and if you hit a older ball and it feels dead, change to another older ball that reacts better!!!! For the most part I use titleist balls from 2007 to the present in which I have several dozen. Over the years i have saved balls that I found while golfing. I find more when the course is crowded and have to wait, so look for balls along the edge. From time to time I will use some of these balls during practice rounds and still play very well with them. How long a ball really lasts to me is a matter of I guess, how much you expect to get out of a ball. So to me "how long does it take for a ball to go bad" is in the use of the beholder!!!!
