Saw at walmart that they have the TP Red balls. But I looked at one of the balls and it just had the "TP RED" marked on it. The box had "with LPD".

Is it the same ball as the TP RED with "TP RED LPD" on the ball?

BTW, $25 for a dozen.

Look for tour preferred and not the tour proven

Probably not. There has been a ton of commentary on here about TM rebadging a three piece ball as a TP Red. It is hard to tell the difference but the giveaway is what is on the box. If it says "Tour Preferred" then it is the original TP Red. If it says "Tour Proven" then it is not the original TP Red and indeed a 3-piece bait and switch.

There are some who have played the new look-a-like and give it high marks. I tried them out of curiosity and after one hole gave them to my wife to play. They are not the original Red TP.

TM Marketing at it's slimiest best.

The ball at Walmart is just a re-release of the original 2006 3-piece TP Red. Although the box says "LDP", it is not the 2008 4-piece LDP ball that everyone raves about and lacks the 360 dimple design associated with the other LDP balls.

Ways to tell the difference:

-"Tour Proven" rather than "Tour Preferred" on the box
-"3-piece" listed on the front of the box
- Lacks "LDP" on the side stamp
