Been told for a while that being left-eye dominant and right handed having offset was hurting me, but I got to see it first hand today using Edel laser aiming equipment. The offset was throwing my aim left and increasing the loft of the putter quite a bit. Experimented with aim lines as well to get that correct, but eventually moving to a zero offset mallet with a rear aim line got me aiming on target consistently.

So now I need help finding a replacement for my Odyssey White Hot original. I'd prefer a blade type, with no markings if possible, but mostly any blade type that someone can point me to that has no offset and a nice feel. Even all of the current Odyssey offerings have at least half a heel offset in the non-mallets. Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue -- I bought an Edel, and haven't purchased another putter since -- over 3 years.

Machine Adjuster.  VMG grooves are super soft feeling, they offer a few different styles of zero offset necks, and you can have one built with a flange to look like a mallet or just go with the traditional blade look.

If you were fitted to a mallet with zero offset with rear sight liines why are you looking for a "blade type with no markings"? I am very curious about the Edel putter fitting process. Was it $? Do you recommend it? Would you mind reviewing your experience?

The best compromise would be a blade with a flange as mentioned above. I just don't like the look of a mallet head, but the additional area with sight line helps my eyes see the putter when it is truly square.

I got the Edel fitting comped because I help the local guy do testing for clubs on FlightScope, but it would definitely be worth the bucks. I think usually the fitting is included in the "total package" of buying the putter anyway, because I haven't seen any set prices just to have your stroke and aim analyzed, but from posting it ranges from included to $50, and would be worth every penny.

Read here if you want a good overview of the process: http://Not allowed because of spam/golf-gadget-review-edel-putter-fitting/

Here's a video overview as well. This guy found out some of the same things that I did: he needed little to no offset and added weight

My experience was the same. I was amazed that where I actually aimed changed depending on how many sight lines there were or weren't on the putter, where they were located--behind the face or on the top of the putter--and the shape of the putter head itself and offset or lack there of. As I mentioned, my stock head with offset had me aiming a bit left and adding loft to the putter. My putter is also way too light for making the kind of stroke I want. Using the Edel with a heavier head and weighting added to the grip I could have a nice, light grip on the putter, take it back, and follow through without effort.

I'd also like to say that if you get the chance you should definitely get a feel for the Edel grip in your hands. I play a grip with a flat front like many others as it's supposed to help the putter sit under your heel pad. The Edel round grip blew it away in terms of feel in my hands and in terms of allowing me to relax my grip pressure.

I would recommend trying out the entire system to anyone without hesitation, and if it were a friend going I would be willing to tell them that I'd cover the cost of the fitting if they weren't satisfied. In the end, what amazes me most is how few putters are offered off the rack today in a blade or reduced footprint putter with no offset. Clearly there is a large market for what I'm looking for that non-custom manufacturers just don't seem to be catering to.

Yep definately an option...but in my opinion I think Bettinardi is softer and use a BB26

I was madly in love with my 2.6 for a long time though

I'd say Cameron 2.6. My wife is a optician that works for 2 Optometrist, i had Lasik surgery couple 4 years ago. I'm 20/20 in my left eye & 20/15 in my right. I'm right eye dominant and just switched last week to a cameron 2.6 from a yes dawn full offset. Best decision ever.

I only found out a couple of weeks ago that I was left eye dominant (and right handed) like you. It's amazing just how far left of target a full offset putter pushes our aim, eh? Always had a huge amount of difficulty lining up putts properly with my full offset 2-Ball. Even after marking an alignment line on the putter, it still looked to me like the face was way open when I lined it up properly.

I know you say that you'd prefer a blade, but you also said that you were consistent with a zero offset mallet... So how about giving the GoLo S a try before you decide? SeeMore also have a wide range of zero offset putters available, both blades and mallets.

As for me, I went with the GoLo S. Stupid easy to line up after coming from a full offset 2-Ball.

I also am right handed and left eye dominant.  I had never heard of such a thing, but now have an excuse for my horrible putting!

Seriously though, I'm going to have to try some zero offset putters now, but most of the ones posted in here are way to pricey for my butdget.  Going to look at the Seemore ones though, thanks.

I don't know that I like that putter completely, but the center shaft and rounded flange definitely suits my eye. The last part is feel though. I hit the fitter's mallet pretty well, and the one he was fitting to me even better, but both felt like butt. I've got to have a pretty soft feel off the face, but there's always milling if I need to go that route.

I too am right handed and left eye dominant.  I was playing a full offset Cameron Newport 2 for the longest time.  I did the same research that you did and pulled the trigger on a Newport 2.6 and have never putted better.  I was renown for my horrible putting among my normal foursome.  I've cut my three putts from 4/5 a round to 1/2.  It made all the difference!

I'm in the same boat. Looks like I will be trying a Golo S or 2.6.

I have always stayed away from putters with lots of toe hang but still can't make anything.

The notchback is working now but I have been wanting a golo

if you buy a sunset beach (~$270, fully customized), they will put the neck wherever you want it. you can get an ocean isle (anser style) with a plumber's neck with no offset. seriously.

The black finish 2012 camerons are deep milled and will feel slightly softer than the 2011 studio select newports.

I'm kinda diggin the new TM.  The insert is soft (to me) and it lines up really well..

It does have the lines, but I guess you could paint over them?

I like the lines, but that's me. :)

At least there's a bit more selection out there than I thought. Feel free to add more input. I'll be testing putters as I can. Wish I could see what the milling makes impact feel like on some of these custom putters.

Amazing how great I used to be when I was younger despite the offset, but part of that was the weight being more inline with my size as well. I was definitely stroking the heavier setups much, much more consistently, though I'm sure the lack of offset helped as well.

I've had an Edel Putter for 3 years, and recently went to their round grip after a standard flat front.

I've got to agree - the Edel round grip is the way to go. I've made more putts and misses are oh, so close.

So I just wanted to bump this thread to ask, how many PGA guys or LPGA gals use a zero offset putter? And if it helps the left eye dominant ones, why not?

I am right handed and left eye dominant and have always used a center shafted putter zero offset and have always been a really good putter, didn't even know this may have anything to do with it.
Center shaft putters just always "looked" better and seemed easier to aim square than heel shafted or offset putters. Hey learn something every day huh.

I noticed Zach Johnson uses a zero offset center shafted SeeMore. As to fittings, don't know who has or hasn't had one. Someone mentioned elsewhere that Tiger is also left-eye dominant but uses a putter with offset presumably because that's what he's always used. I'm getting to like the look of zero offset putters the more I see them, and even center shafts.

I recently switched to a Seemore FGP and have putted much better.  Putts inside 10 feet feel automatic.

I was a Cameron fan and seriously wanted to try the 2.6 with the Red Dot.  New 2.6 does not have a dot (I think this is correct).

I would try a Seemore.  You can usually pick up on Ebay relatively cheap, under $100.
