Turned on The Golf Channel the other night to watch the tournament.  Just in time to watch Keegan Bradley hit a shot.  Back and forth he went.  Step up to the ball.  Fidget.  Step Back.  Start Over.  Fidget Some More.  Reset.  Pull On His Shirt Sleeve.  Take A Waggle.  On and on it went.  Then he pulled the trigger and hit it 10 yards right of the green.

Changed the channel.  Can't stand to even watch that.  It's like playing with a friend who's swing is so bad you can't bear to watch for fear that it might rub off.

I really think you can make a similar statement about most pro golfers.   If they hit a great shot, it's fine that they backed off 8 times, if not, it's silly.

As well as nearly every weekend golfer I seem to get behind who takes 9 practice swings only to top it 39 yards in front of him.  And proceed to do the next thing on the next shot...and the next.....and the next...

Hopefully it won't take the TV producers too long to work out and cut to his shots later.

They generally do it with Furyk after his back off on every putt, they try to cut to Ben Crane after he's been in his setup for 20 seconds so we only see the last 10 seconds.

They still cut to Kevin Na getting his caddie to plumb bob 2 foot putts - but that is just for laughs, plumb bobbing has been proven to be useless, even more so when your caddies is doing it for you on two footers.

It seems that Bradley has slowed way down on the spitting too.  Even the announcers commented on the spitting earlier in the season.

I wish I had some of that talent though.

I must be in the minority here.  I have zero problems watching Keegan play.  I really don't even notice his "tendencies" until I read others complaining about them.

It is funny that people complain about certain pros having no personality and others acting almost robotic.  I really enjoy the diversity on the tour atm and have no problem watching any of them play (but I am a fan of golf, not just certain golfers).

As long as the golfer seems like they are enjoying playing golf for a living still and are not acting too much like a dbag on tv, I have no problem watching any of them.

I like golf, and I enjoy all the pros for their skills, I just prefer some more than others.  I'm always checking out their swings, their equipment, and how they  handle the pressures of the day.  Some are better than others...Posted Image

p.s.  These threads on guys hating on tour pros can get old and fast.  Wonder how guys would like it if they were hated on and for little or no  reason.  Posted Image

Scoff, if you must but I’ve actually started copying Keegan Bradley’s exact pre-shot routine during my rounds and it’s knocked 3 strokes off my last five rounds.  Seriously!  Three strokes off my last five rounds… in aggregate.  It actually had no effect on three of my rounds but on the first one and the fourth one I was down one stroke and two strokes respectively.

If I keep this up, I’m hoping the hesitations will start coming more naturally.  I have to fight the tendency to revert to my older, faster pace of play under pressure.  BUT, when I do this right, I definitely feel more like a pro.

I think it shows, too.  My last few rounds I’ve even amassed a good sized gallery that follows on the tee box behind me.  I can hear them yelling for me after a lot of my shots.  Feels pretty good.

Yeah, they probably think "look how long this guy takes.  He probably knows what he's doing."

Fresh take, this one.  Have not ever seen a Keegan Bradley routine thread here before.

Turn off TV because you're sick of the guy.  Come to GolfWRX and start thread about the guy.  Brilliant!

Such a polarizing figure.  Must be good for golf!!!

It's almost as painful as the 20 minute montage about the city of New Orleans or a 15 minute interview with the CEO of Zurich that CBS drums up.  They used to show golf on TV, now you see about 3 shots and hour.  I watch the European Tour now, you actually see golf shots and very little slow play.

You know there was a storm in New Orleans once.  Whenever somebody does something there it helps heal the city.

I think I heard about that Storm...and its great that the event is there to help "heal" the city. I understand all of the great things that the PGA Tour does for the communities it visits, but I dont need to hear about for 20 minutes every hour.  I am sure that the European tour does charity and help the communities, but when I watch it, I get 95% golf action and very little filler

I agree, it doesn't really bother me much seeing him fidget before hitting a shot. Keegan is actually becoming one of the players I like more on the tour.

IMO the guy isnt slow.  He may have a weird mannerism that takes a few extra seconds but when he gets over the ball its one look and fire.  If you think he is slow please dont watch Kevin Na. If it is REALLY that painful to watch start making dollar bets with your buddies on how many times he steps forward then back.

Amen brother. Different personalities and quirks make the PGA line up fun to watch. I have played with individuals who square dance with the ball before they hit it.
