Work on keeping your left shoulder rotating left while keeping your arms connected to your torso and moving under your chin toward the target and to the inside left.
hopefully these vids will provide an "AHHA" moment for you.

and

best of luck

No prob, it will make more sense the more you play and the more you watch.

How long have you been playing Nick?
I provided vids of PGA players Steve Elkington (considered one of the best ball strikers ever) and Pat Perez.

My intent was to let you see the left shoulder motion during Steve's demo and also Pat's thoughts on rotation of the left shoulder and torso to the inside during the release.  The truth of a good golf swing is captured in these 2 clips.

best of luck

Do you have a video?  This is happening for a specific reason and there many reasons and combinations of reasons that can cause the issue.

If you don't do the right thing, it will either not help, or make things worse.

For example, the person who suggested you keep your left shoulder rotating while arms are connected.

That is an excellent suggestion if your chest/turn is stalling.

However, if your lower body/hips haven't shifted enough toward the target, then this will cause serious problems.

It's not a face on with driver, but I can see what's causing things.

You might not like the answer, but it will be a long term project to get your hands ahead of the ball.

There is really no quick fix that will allow your hands to get past the ball.

I can tell you what needs to happen and what's going wrong, but it might make your head explode to hear it.

Let me know.  If you play pretty well now, I wouldn't mess with it because without the proper practice, it won't work right.

OK.  Please work on one thing at a time and what happens first.

Your right arm folds too quickly and it gets your arms too inside to quickly with not enough width in your swing.

Then when you come from the inside, you are trapped and you stand up ( early extend) and your upper body gets in front of the ball and your hands flip because your right elbow is stuck behind your right hip.

Here is the sequence you need to work on.  These movements should be dynamic, fluid and automatic if they are sequenced properly.

1.  Keep your right arm straighter longer in the backswing

2.  Allow time in transition for your lower body to shift left (toward target) while your head stays back and your right elbow passes the right hip.

3.  Your right shoulder should move down and out towards the ball after the shift to the left, instead of down towards the right hip.

This is a lot of stuff and it would take several lessons before I unloaded all of this on someone.

Don't move on to the next step until you feel like the previous one is pretty much thought free...and there will be growing pains along the way.

Lol... if that is the case you should try a forward press and be sure to check and make sure on takeaway you are not hinging your wrists back  force yourself to use mainly arms for a few 1/4swings or 1/2 swings and get the feel then try and crank on one...

how far up is the ball in your stance?  Practice hitting the ball with your back foot on the toe.  Also stick a tee in the butt of your grip and on your down swing try keep the tee pointed at the ball for as long as possible.

Monte, when you said that 'if you play pretty well now, I would mess with ...."

Is this mostly because you can play pretty well from those positions, or because it is really tough to fix, or just a trade-off here?

THanks.

Try playing off the inside of the front heel.  you just seem to be staying behind the ball too much and not holding onto your lag enough.  The drill should help.  Let me know how it goes once you've messed around with it a little bit. Good luck!

I would not recommend doing this drill, pulling the handle and intentionally holding lag is a disaster move in the swing, im sure Monte will agree?

+1 id follow Monte's advice and stick with that, he's sorted my swing out just from his videos on shoulder rotation.

I'm just referring to a simple drill that is easy to follow and test out quickly to see if helps.

Because that will lead u down a very dark path of 'holding the lag' and 'pulling the handle'. you will pull the club by the grip with your hands/arms instead of the correct way using your rotation to move theclub. Just think it will do more harm than good, just my 2 cents. hopefully someone with more knowledge like Monte will be able to comment more?

It's not a disaster move to completely try and implement into his literally.  It's just a "feel" drill.

Roscoe.  I understand you have had some success with this drill, but there are two problems with it.

It doesn't address the issue that is actually causing the problem and it creates a situation where the hands disconnect from the turn.

The arc will tend to get narrow and angle of attack too steep.

You never want to hold any angle.  It gets held through lateral movement of the lower body and rotation.

If you have maximized proper lateral movement and rotation and the angle still isn't being retained, it is then likely the back swing is too long.

In this particular case, nick is getting his upper body in front of the ball and his angle of attack is too steep.  If he does your drill, it will most likely make his problem worse.
