I have weird shaped feet (narrow heel relative to wide forefoot), so I'm used to trying on every single shoe available before buying. And because I participate in a lot of sports that require precisely fitting fottwear (snowboarding, skiing, hiking, etc), I've learned a little about shoes. Not sure how much information you are looking for, so apologies in advance if this info is too remedial.
The key to find the right fitting shoe is the "last". The last is the mold around which the shoe is shaped. Last characteristics vary based on goals of the shoe’s fit and appearance. Some manufacturers use only 1 last for their entire line of shoes, while others use many different lasts (FootJoy, for example has numerous lasts [see below]). Therefore, it is possible that different models of shoes from the same OEM will fit completely differently.
It sounds like you are wearing a shoe that is either too long for you, or the forefoot is too wide.
For example, FootJoy's various lasts:
Quote
Hampton Last: Hampton Last - Rounded toe character, standard fit across forefoot, instep, and heel.;
Olympic Last: Olympic Last - Full rounded toe character, fuller fit across forefoot, full instep, with a slightly narrow heel. Last used on certain athletic styles.;
Stanford Last: Stanford Last - Standard toe character, full fit across forefoot, instep, and heel. Preferred last for Country Club Casual styles.;
Regency Last: Regency Last - Rounded toe character, standard fit across forefoot and instep, with a slightly narrow heel.;
Classics Laser Last: Full rounded toe character, standard fit across forefoot and instep, with a slightly narrow heel. The Classics Laser Last is a composite of thousands of digital scans of the FootJoy Laser Fitting System.;
Aintree Last: Rounded toe character, standard fit across forefoot, instep, and heel.
Grant Last: Slightly square and sleek toe character, standard fit across forefoot, instep, and heel. Preferred last for fashion oriented Classics styles.;
Rex Last: Narrow toe character, narrow fit across the forefoot, high instep, with a slightly narrow heel.;
Laser Last: Full rounded toe character, standard fit across forefoot and instep, with a slightly narrow heel. The Laser Last is a composite of thousands of digital scans of the FootJoy Laser Fitting System.;
Contour Last: Full rounded toe character, full across forefoot, standard instep and heel. The last bottom has been contoured to closer match the shape of the foot.;
Austin Last: Fullest rounded toe character, fullest fit across forefoot, standard instep and heel.;
Towne Last: Narrow toe character, narrow fit across forefoot, low instep, with a slightly narrow heel. Preferred last for Classics slip-on styles.;
Windsor Last: Tapered toe character, slightly narrow fit across forefoot, instep, and heel. Tailored look for certain Classics Dress styles.;
Montclair Last: Rounded toe character, standard fit across forefoot, intstep, and heel.;
Women’s Laser Last: Rounded toe character, slightly full fit across forefoot and instep, with a slightly narrow heel. The Women’s Laser Last is a composite of thousands of digital scans of women’s feel by the FootJoy Laser Fitting System.;

Newport Last: Full oblique toe character, full across forefoot, full instep, standard heel. Preferred last for golf Sandal styles.;
Slip Last Construction: A shoe construction technique often found in running shoes. This unique construction allows a shoe to be made without an insole board, producing a more contoured underfoot platform and vastly increased flexibility.;
Monticello Last: Standard fit across the forefoot and instep with a slightly narrow heel. Square toe character for fashionable comfort.;
Sculpted LoPro Last: Standard fit in the heel and instep with a slightly shallow forefoot. Oblique toe character for sport comfort.;
Natural Last: Full Rounded toe character, full across the forefoot, standard instep and heel. The last bottom has been contoured to closely match the shape of the foot.;
Low Profile Driving Last: Standard fit in the heel and instep with a slightly shallow forefoot. Oblique toe character for sport comfort.;
Milano Fashion Last: Slightly shallow and square toe character, moderately full instep and a narrow heel.;
Erickson Last: Standard fit in the heel and instep with a slightly shallow forefoot. Oblique toe character for sport comfort.;
Contoured Lightweight PU Fit-Bed®: Slip last construction enables Contour Series shoes to feature contoured PU Fit-Beds that match the shape of the last and the midsole. This creates an underfoot base that more closely mimics the natural shape of the foot. ;

I have sent them an email to ask about that. It was about 5 years (or more) ago that they came out with the laser fitting system. They said that their intent was to have many of them around the country and it appears that they did not follow through with that.
So, which companies fit your golf shoes? Maybe it is time for an orthotic insole?

I still think that the shoe manufacturers are missing the boat on custom fitting of golf shoes. Not making them for each person, but pointing them in the right direction and being able to provide cusom insoles at a decent price to make the shoes fit prefectly. IMO the shoes are the most important piece of equipment you own, especially if you walk

If your feet hurt, you can't concentrate on anything else (people who don't have shoe issues don't understand.)
And somebody should start making synthetic socks with individual toes to avoid blistering.

The last shoe I purchased was a deal on the Footjoy Reel-Fit -- talked the guy into a price that was the same as Nike TW and Adidas 360.
Great Shoes for my troubled feet as the BOA lacing system does the job to make a comfy fit -- I'm sure part of it is the last they use on that shoe -- but you might give it a shot at the store.
I'm already looking for a spring pair for another color.
