Hey Guys,

Just curious what the biggest draw for you guys is when buying a shirt.  I think for me personally if the design is nice, then I would be willing to pay a good amount.  What about everyone else?

As long as it doesn't have too long of a sleeve, I can go for a lot of different looks. Nothing like this..

COLOR, COLOR, COLOR! Color is the most powerful tool to express my feeling and to let my playmates feel better. I like white or black golf shirt with color shorts, pants or skorts which matches my visor or scarf...

in order of importance:  

1) fit (consistent sizing)
2) design
3) cost
4) fabric

only lacoste  meets all of these---for me..

In order of importance for me:
1 material
2 cost
3 design/fit

Every shirt I buy (for golf or otherwise), with the exception of long sleeve button downs, is either polyester or a polyester spandex blend. I can't stand wearing cotton shirts. Even my t shirts are poly blends. Then comes cost. I will NOT spend more than $40/50 for a shirt, and even that is pushing it. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have spent more than $40 on a shirt, and still have some fingers left. I think it is silly to spend that much on clothes. I'd rather spend the money on golf. Last comes design/fit. As long as the shirt is the right size, I'm not particularly bothered by the cut. Shirts that taper down don't fit well, but aside from that, I don't worry about it. Either they fit or the don't. If the do, great, if they don't, back to the rack it goes.

IMO it's tough to put in order because it really needs to be a combo.  But I would say:

1. Fit
2. Fabric / Design

First and foremost, the shirt must fit properly for me to consider it.  I've seen shirts I like a lot, that just don't fit properly and therefor I don't buy them.  If the shirt fits properly, I can cut a tiny bit of slack on the fabric / design but not too much.

Design is what will initially catch the eye.

Fabric is the next thing I check out.  Not only how it feels, but what its made of and how hard it is to care for (I have bought 2 mercerized shirts in my life and will never buy another).  

Fit - a well fitting plain shirt will often look better than a poor fitting great design.

Sorry I do care what they cost, too.  Having a couple for a special round is good but for the most part, I'm playing golf.  If I played with customers/clients I might feel differently.

I like to color co-ordinate plus have a shirt that when I take a swing it fits comfortable and made of a fabric that breaths when its warm out!!

I like the shirt to be breathable...staying cool on hot days is important.

I'd go with design, cost, and fabric, all pretty much in equal measure. Then fit. If I like the first 3 enough, it's worth having it tailored to fit the way I like it (that usually only costs $10-15). The shirts I've had tailored usually end up being my favorite shirts, anyway.

Not sure which looks worse -- that look, overweight guys trying to squeeze into the current tailored slimmer look, or worse yet guys with skinny arms wearing short, short sleeves that make them look like pipe cleaner arms.

Looks like around his hay day, so yea, prob 2006ish.

On a side note, I dont think it looks THAT bad.. I'd rather see a dood wear that than a one with super short sleeves.

Fit, Fabric, Design. In that order but all are important. If it fits great and I like the fabric but the design is weird I wouldn't buy it. It has to fit properly or I wont buy it, period. I like the Adidas and Underarmour breathable fabric and I also like the classic Polo knit and Lacoste knit shirts. They don't breathe as well as the Adidas do but I like the shirts. Design is important, im colour blind so its gotta be something I can match up with pants easily, plus it has to look good.

Cost isn't a huge factor, but its nice to get them on sale.

It's about the fabric for me. One thing I'm picky about is the collar. If the collar material is going to curl, flip up or fray, it's a no go.
