With a new CEO, Callaway can't afford to even think about getting back in the game and my guess is they pull out of GPS.... Not having a new device by now is a good indication they are out.......They are having a hard enough time trying to keeping up with  Taylormade. let alone Garmin or Skygolf.....

Or they are taking their time so that they do not make the same mistake as last time.  I wonder what the count is on people that kept the upro mx.  I for one still have it and is the best gps I ever had for a reasonable price with all the features it has!!! I would expect if they do the price will be a lot higher but that is just my guess!!  Time will tell!!!

Did your source comment on what they plan to do about support going forward?

I just got an e-mail from callaway golf. They said we no longer sell that device nor have plans to release that device again. We are currently working on another Callaway Gps.I knew I should have turned mine in on the recall. My home course is totally different  now so I suppose it wont  be remapped.

Good to hear. I bought the original Upro the week it came out, and have used it hundreds of times without one hiccup. Great product, and when I recently went to the Upro site, I found that I had a bunch of credits in my account for free. I hope Callaway continues its GPS development. Id buy an upgraded version of the original in a heartbeat!!

I dunno… this sounds like good news.

Frankly, I was shocked at the way Callaway handled this; just picking up their marbles and going home, so to speak. I have seen "oopsies" before in all kinds of software development, but never a rollout that was so hopelessly crippled, and with no light at the end of the tunnel. For me, this is "The Big Miss" I wish some insider would write a book about. I'd really like to know what happened.

As long as they are continuing to work on GPS your course should be updated. Have you contacted Callaway about updating your course?

For what it's worth, our Callaway rep, who was at the course with demo drivers, fairways and putters last Wednesday, told me when asked that there was a conference call, mandatory to all this week or next about the re-release and updates.  He told me to stay tuned, and he is back with the tour van next week so...............

Callaway is in no way leaving the GPS game, From what ive heard they are not only working on updates for the MX but once that is up and running they will continue to release new units.  I had the original and now the MX since it first came out and had no real issues with it.  IVe used a few golf gps and the upro and the upro mx is by far the best one out there.

I don't believe they are going to leave their customers for dead, no way. They will still support their dedicated GPS customers....it makes sense. However, don't be surprised if they go the smart phone route. They have invested a large amount of money on mapping courses, it's a sunk investment. Let's see. Don't be surprised if some "heavy hitters" enter the smart phone market this year.

Don't forget, they bought Top-Flite for $125 Million and just dumped it to Dicks for $20 Million... They will walk away from this nightmare in a heart beat! Not enough units sold to the market to make a big deal.....Remember, they had a recall!!!

My understanding is they bought brand, IP, and manufacturing for 125, and sold brand for 20.

Exactly. Its called sending good money after bad. If they realize it was a bad investment Callaway wont hesitate to dump it. Now, I dont think they would do so without offering to compensate their customers - IE another recall offer if they get out completely - but the idea that they will continue to support it only because they have spent money up to now is silly.

Personally I still like mine although I wouldnt mind trying a couple of the newer units that are out.

Disappointing if they do not re-release. You would think they would have done it by now. Maybe I better go download all the course map updates in case the site goes down.
