How much would it weigh it it was solid?

They really should make a solid gold one for him.

I don't know, but gold is about 19g/cm3 (I guess depending on K).  So next we need to figure out how many cubic cm are in an s56 4iron and presto!!

How many grams does a, what iron did he hit again, weigh?

And then how much more does gold weigh than steel?

And then there are 28 grams in an oz . Is that right?

So, once someone smart tells us how many grams there would be of gold in the iron, we can just divide by whatever you should divide by to get the ounces.

Then just multiply by the gold price, which is around 1600

Either way, he hit the shot so they should make it for him

There are 31.1 grams in a troy ounce.  Gold is 258% denser then stainless steel.  Spot price for gold today is $1632.60 per troy ounce.  If the putter was 340 grams in Stainless steel it would be around 878.2 grams in gold given the same dimensions.  That would be about 28.23 troy ounces, so the gold content of such a putter would be worth about $46,250 once melted and sold.  Hope this helps.  (Lanny or anyone else trying to sell)

Coooool, man, thanks.

They should make him that.  They are going to get a lot more than 46 grand in PR over the next few decades off that shot.

My "analysis" was for a 340 gram putter.  A four iron  would weigh less, closer to 250 grams, so it's gold would be valued at about $34,000 if it was solid gold.

So sick but kinda flashy.  I always thought of Ping as more of an everyman golf company that puts out functional, understated products.  The pure gold putters are just insane.

Yeah, but the thread is about the 4 iron. He didn't win a damn thing. It's plated.
