Yesterday was the start of our dogfight league. Shot a 39 and hit the closest to the pin for $60. Left the course with a little bounce in my step. Has your league started yet and how did you do?

I've had two league nights to far...  We play a 2 player team / point quota format (like a modified Stableford  our format)... 2 individual, plus a team match.  So far so good, we've won all 6.  No closest to the pins though!

Nice shooting. Omg on our league.  We have a very wide range of players. New track this year, nice course.  Play match play handicap point system. First time this week. Total bloodbath.  I played bad compared to usual but one guy shot a 68. For nine holes.

Yep...leagues start this week.   Pretty casual leagues with a mix of good plays and hacks.   Points award based on 9 hole net score and Match Play.

That said, I wasn't hitting it my best, but was holding an even par score through 6 holes and with a decent lead over my opponent.   My opponent and I had the same 9 hole handicap in the league.  I was pretty happy with my performance and figured I was on the downhill to a victory...and then...

#7 - Pull tee shot left OB.   End result, bogey.
#8 - Reachable Par 4.   Pull my 3w left again, but it was okay as left is the safe side to miss.    Wedge to the green...4 putt.   Double bogey.   Hole was cut on a nasty slope and I was on the wrong side.
#9 - GIR and then a 3 putt for bogey.   Didn't matter, my opponent made birdie.

Shot 4 over...my opponent 3 over.   I lost my match...oh well.   Season is young.

Thanks! Wow a 68 that's crazy.

I feel your pain my friend, I too battle a case of the pulls from time to time.

My wife would leave me if I was in three leagues, lol.

I would say 6 straight is a good start.

Exactly what I was thinking. You play three leagues, probably don't have a wife, and smile a lot? Am I close?

Our league started last Tuesday.  We have skins, closest to the pin, low gross/net, etc.  I birdied the first hole and ended up even after the front of our 9-hole league (was 1 over for 18).  I'm hoping the birdie holds up for a skin, but I should have low gross.

Yes you are close.  I do have a girlfriend, I just bought her an engagement ring, so I'm getting a little bit of 'freedom' this summer.  But she is shockingly supportive of my golfing addiction, and as long as I am completely 'available' the other nights to her, she's pretty OK with it, I usually get in an 18 on the weekends too.  But on a side note, the golf season in Michigan is relatively short, Mid March - mid November with alot of weird weather in between.  So you can bet that between November - March I am doing ALL the things she likes / wants.

And yes, I do infact smile alot.  :-)
