First divers, then gymnasts, is this what the  the future looks like?   He seems to be a talented youngster, 63 in the Jr. World event in San Diego and he did lose in a playoff to qualify for this event outright.

I have played with him, he's a solid putter and hits it straight. Good combination

Good for him, hopefully he does well. Maybe he will be the start of a major influx of golfers coming out of China.

He is the same age as my bro. My brother beat him in junior world a few years ago but this kid improved so fast. he hits it medium length, 275 at most but doesnt make any mistakes. We played with him the day after he won junior world last year.

Lesser competition. That being said, I think this kid will easily be in the top 30.

Scroll through a Euro Tour board and let me know how many names look familiar. You will only need one hand to count...especially now that Rory is on "holiday" for who knows how long and Westwood, well who knows what he is up to.

Yeah, the world number 1 is soaking up the sun, drinking champagne & dating a hot multi-millionairess.

The weak Euro tour has done nothing for him....

if his swing is off plane he gets an electrical shock, so apparently it's helped speed up his career.

bring back balata balls.  bring back wood drivers.  you wouldn't see 13 year olds in events.

What is your opinion on the PGA Tour inviting a 14 year old girl to play in 2004?

It tells us more about the depth of your golf knowledge than the European Tour.

Balata and persimmon like they had in 1957 and you wouldn't see 13 year olds in tour events huh?

Because it was in 1957 that 15 year old Bob Panasik made the cut in the Canadian Open. But hey, he wasn't 13 either. Posted Image

Once again we hear from a patriotic American who probably couldnt even tell you where Europe is, heck he probably thinks Europe is a country.

Stop being so self indulged and broaden your horizons. The euro tour must have something going for it, they regularly attract better fields and the worlds best players for a lot less money. Why???  Because the tour is quality, the golf is interesting and players want to play there. Maybe not the US players, but every other world class player is playing there as well now.

It's not the same boring golf week in week out which the US tour is starting to become, the country I am from has shifted over the past 10 years and now watch/follow and prefer the Euro tour for the above reasons........ And because of Johnny miller!!!

For the record, he shot 77 in round one and sits in 150th place currently. He struggled on the front nine but hit 9 straight pars on the back. It's a long course btw - 7667 yards (72)

Just finished a night shift plus a few hours' worth of overtime on top. Absolutely knackered. Thank God for posts like this one, spouting the same predictable gumph, to help me nod off.

As someone mentioned above, Westwood's playing in Indonesia this week. As the defending champion. Obviously last year's field was akin to your club's monthly medal's, but for as long as they refuse to hand the trophy out after a drawing of lots on the Sunday evening, you can only beat the third rate no-hopers who peg it up that particular week.

Yep, the current 1,2,3,6 and 10 golfers in the world are European for no reason at all. This probably shows the decline of the European Tour, rather then its strengthening, if anything

Westwood shot a 65 in his first round and is leading by 2. What a scoundrel stealing easy WR points when he could be partying with Rafa and Djokervic in Monte Carlo...
