13 putts through 5 holes, i.e. AT LEAST 3 3-putts in 5 holes.

Lets say she keeps playing this bad for awhile...how long can she actually keep her card for the Ladies tour? I know she's won at least once, but other than sponsor exemptions, how long does she definitely have?

She keeps putting up high 70's, low 80's and she's toast.

She talked for over a minute over 8-iron shot and still managed to fade it off the green.

She definitely looks better with the short putter than belly putter. One horrendous flinch pull on the tap-in. Her right hand turned over and she yipped it. It looked like she tried to be more natural, not taking her typical stance, but it backfired. Otherwise during the live coverage Michelle's putting was similar to a couple of years ago with the short putter...mechanical and tentative but not awful.

Michelle's problem is there's no such thing as a great stretch with the putter. She's either ordinary or very poor. Lexi still has confident days where she'll drain a succession of 10-15 footers, although the short misses on the final two holes today were mindful of Kraft.

It is my opinion that her nor her family is
being realistic in facing the problem. She is not
playing natural golf or putting naturally. She is
lost in mind games and robotics. More talent than
any of the lady players, but not using it, and its
not getting better, and won't till she gets the proper
help. My choice for her would be Bob Rotella and
Dave Stockton.

Only until BJ steps away and let's MW play her own game and makes her own decision without interference...this downward spiral will continue.

BJ is the master of ROI without the results.

Wow....a whole 10 posts until someone blamed her dad.  That's gotta be a new record.

But seriously....her putting is painful to watch.

I think she has some real talent but she, like Tiger, needs to find it again.  Maybe now that she is done with school she can focus and spend the time to figure it out.

First, I was happy to turn on the TV on a Wednesday and see some golf.  Almost a whole round.  But MW's putting is abysmal.  Ledbetter is killing her and her folks aren't doing her any favors either.  It's time to have her find her own way and put the big girl pants on.  It's time to grow up young lady.  As Anthony Kim is finding out, talent only gets your so far.  Practice and patience need to be inserted as well.

Ok....i follow you with the tiger thing....he needs to find the dominant form that had him being arguably the greatest golfer of all time....

But what exactly does michelle have to find?  She has 2 wins on the LPGA tour,  a bunch of embarassment from trying to compete on the PGA tour, and.....heck, i don't know what she can find other than a bunch of hype and overblown expectations.....

Sure, she has talent....but so do a bunch of players.....lexi, ai, jiyai, YANI....etc.....i don't see what makes michelle wie so special.....and comparing her to tiger is completely ridiculous.....yani, sure, there's a reason to start thinking about the comparison....but michelle?  Come on man!

Time for her to pick up a mallet, superstroke grip and go left hand low. Get the hands out of the stroke asap.

It's really a shame.  The Woods comparison isn't really apt -- Michelle was competitive on the LPGA as a 13-14 year old, which Woods wasn't.  Granted, the men's game is completely different.  But while there was plenty of hype, there was also a great deal of potential, which hasn't been achieved.  She made the cut at the Kraft and the US Open at 13 and finished fourth at the Kraft at 14.  She made the quarterfinals in the Publinx at 14 -- the men's Publinx.  She was really good.  Now, with her putting, she's a run-of-the-mill finisher on the LPGA most weeks and she's not even 23.  I don't think she's washed up, but she needs to work on putting.  I know it's not the most interesting thing to work on, and I don't know who she should turn to, but something's gotta give.  I don't know if she's overthinking on the greens, or maybe she just needs to get herself a big, ugly putter so she can look down and smile and relax.  Don't know if she's better off with a Stockton approach or a Pelz approach, but her team needs to figure it out.

Maybe she should find a tough mini-golf course and spend a week with the kids there and have some fun.

Claw time.  Or if its both hands she might have to go the Adam Scott route.

The times I've seen her recently she is very mechanical on every shot.  That's fine in part, but you can't be that way 100% on every shot, she's got to loosen up and get out of her own way.

She is a head case.  Bad putting will eventually lead to bad irons.  Hope she finds an answer before the whole game deteriorates.  I'm rooting for her.

I'm somewhat serious.  Let her find a good mini-golf course with slopes and not too many windmills and have some fun.  Just putt without thinking too much.  Standing on the practice green putting 3 footers in a circle is a bore and a half, and she probably loses interest.  Let her play against a bunch of kids and enjoy herself.  Don't make it an event where her agent/publicist/manager/everybody else makes it an obligation.  Just go somewhere after school lets out for an hour or two, with a buddy and maybe a glass of wine.

I've played with old folks my whole life -- as a kid, I played mornings during the week at a public course and almost everybody out there had me by about 60 years.  Now, there aren't too many who have 60 years on me anymore, but I played with one old guy for years who was a good putter with a blade from the 1930s and usually putted with his bag on his shoulder.  Didn't put any thought into it -- just stepped up, looked at the hole and hit the ball and waited for it to drop.  I think the more you go with instinct, the better you putt.  She's an athletic young woman, do what Nike says and just do it.
