I currently play a 3 wood (just off the tee, I can't hit 3 woods well off the fairway) and 5 wood, I can hit this well off the fairway for long approaches. I'm thinking if the Rbz 5 wood is longer than a typical 5 wood then I could use that for tee shots and not lose much distance compared to a 3 wood and still be able to play it for fairway shots?

They aren't making that claim...so I doubt it is true.  If it were, TM would have claimed it.

Perhaps you should go for the HL 3 option (which is essentially a 4 wood). 17 degrees of loft, so right in between a 3 and a 5. Best of both worlds maybe?

Alternatively, give the Ping G20 4 wood a hit... it's a great club.

I agree,  if you have difficulty hitting the 3 wood off the turf, I also suggest trying a 4 wood. It is probably almost as long as the 3 wood, but easier to launch off the turf.

I had written a long response here and then my computer froze.....  too busy to retype it all.

Long story short....I got my RBZ Tour 5 wood (18) with Ozik in stiff (tipped an extra 1/4").......thing is loooooong......  Very possibly as long as my TEE CB4 3 wood.  I have yet to give them a good head to head just yet, but I've already hit the 5 wood in spots that only my best three wood strikes have reached.  Thing is nice and forgiving too..

I'll write more later if I get a moment.

My buddy hits the RBZ 3 wood off the turf at least 10 yards further than his TEE CB4 3 wood, so I would not be surprised that you hit the RBZ 5 wood close to the TEE 3 wood. Of course, for me the added distance wasn't there compared to my 910F. To each his own.

I picked up an RBZ 5 wood at the RBC Heritage last week and had a PX Black put into it. It is very long. I thought it was as long as my RBZ 3 wood so I had a PX Black installed into the 3 wood. I have picked up 10 to 15 yards with both clubs. Not sure to give the credit to TM or the proper shaft.

Definitely try the HL 3 RBZ, it is a monster off the deck and the tee. Kicked my TEE XCG -V 16.5 4 wood to the curb.Must reshaft though, got an epic in mine atm.

TThe way tm gains yards I'd definitely have the club laser lofted... The rbz irons are a degree away from two full clubs stronger then my j33s. Of course a six iron that is my four iron will be further then my six. Wouldn't be at all surprised if the "five" wood was a three wood loft, using maybe a higher launching shaft. Just my 2 cents

Why do you want so much distance out of a fairway wood......... Screw up the whole bag, now you have to get hybrids or irons to fill in the gaps between long irons........ I hit the RBZ woods and driver and didn't notice anything special but as another
Poster posted with the right shaft anything can get more distance...... You would have to hit the same shaft in different heads to get an accurate answer...... Just hitting one then the other Isn't really accurate

I have had a few hot heads and all it did was mess everything up........then again distance isn't an issue for me, consistency has done far more for my round than pumping out a 3 wood 280

I am thinking about picking up an RBZ fairway and for me being able to go to gain some control by going to a 17* or 19* and not sacrificing distance has to be a plus.

I agree that having a 3 wood that you hit the same distance as your driver doesn't make sense... and I hit the 15* pretty close to mine... the 3HL takes care of that.

Exactly why i bought the 5 wood.  Im basically going to play the 5 wood as my 3 and 5 wood replacement.....so ive opened a spot for another wedge!
