On mishit putts, which putter style is likely to be more forgiving relative to distance control?  Is there an expected difference at all?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

In theory, the 9 should be more forgiving due to the fact that it is a mallet and has a higher MOI. But with that slim of a mallet, I don't think it would make too much of a difference. on mishits.

Great Question!

I have played them both and had varying levels of success with both.  However, I have been more consistent with the Anser style.  The #9 required more forward shaft lean for me and a wider stance for me to get consistent contact.  I also had to stand more upright and began to push putts more with it.  after all of these putting changes, I figured I should go back to my more natural setup and change back to the Anser style.

I have since settled on the Circa style..(Anser with more toe weight)

Here is to hoping for a good season...

Thanks for the input guys.  My perception is that the 9 is easier to control for distance, but I think I'm probably just crazy.  It's hard to imagine that there could be a very meaningful difference.

Have you used the iPing app? If your stroke type is a strong arc there is a reason the #9 seems better to you.

Yeah...barely more forgiving...actually, I'd almost say they are about the same.

I love the #9 style, but I'm typically an Anser putter...so my misses with the #9 are right of my target line.

i have extensively used both

i PREFER the way a 9 sets up over anything else
but PREFER the way an anser style looks .... stupid right!!??? :black eye:

I use a flow neck NP 2.5 now and its ok
thinking of going back to a mallet maybe a Go Lo or a 9 again, not sure, well see I guess

iPING says im SBST or even SLIGHT Arc, but i cant stand most FB putters

I have found that the 9 style is more prone to mishit on longer putts.  With the shaft more on the heel it seems like it has a tendency to pull putts or hit them on the heel..

Right on the border between strong arc and slight arc.  It's probably why I feel like I can use both/either of these styles and also can't decide between them.

yeah...9 will open more in the backswing and if you are jabby/quick coming through these are the results.  You really have to learn to be more "dead handed" on the long putts; then your putting stroke is more of a reaction to the head.

I cant make up my mind either.  I like my BB0 at the moment.  An Anser style head with a flow neck so it has a toe hang that's between Anser style and the #9

lmao yeah you should have seen the look on my wifes face when i told her what it costs.  Beautiful peice, and most expensive golf club I own lmao.  Everytime I think about selling it I hole some unGodly 50 footer that breaks way right to left

I think looking at a spot on the turf that 3-5 inches infront of the ball cures a lot of my putting problems though.  I hit everything pure when I do that.  I forget to do that sometimes.  Guess I need to play more
