Do you play with your driver? I personally own a nice driver, but I am very inconsistent with it. For me, until I get more consistent with it, I don't even bring it out onto the golf course. I average about 230 - 250 with the driver if I hit it straight, and I only hit it straight about 60% of the time (maybe less). With my 3 Wood, I can get 225 - 235 out of it and be straight about 90% of the time, and when it's off, it's still not that bad. So right now, I don't think the extra 25 yards is worth it.

Just wanted to know how you guys play your drivers.

Thanks,

Does having it in my bag, but never playing with it count?

Honestly, my driver is pretty old, I am very inaccurate with it, and am looking to get a new one soon which I will be able to use on a consistent basis

Last week my driver wasn't working well so I didn't use it after hole #4. I ended up tying my personal best on the front 9.

I didn't get swing the clubs over the long weekend and only used my driver on one hole this week. I shot 2 under my score for last week.

As much as I like nailing bombs 250 to 300 yards down the fairway, sometimes I just can't hit my driver. When I pull my driver for every fairway I hit there are at least 3 or 4 shots that slice out of bounds.

Some days I can hit my driver fine. Others I can't. If its not working I leave it in the bag.

All depends on the day . . . if the my driver is off, my 3wd usually goes too. So it's more of a chipping-3/4 swing off the tee with the 3wd. No full swings.

If it's on- well then, it's 260+ with the driver (straight) and 240 with the 3wd (workable either way). Those days are nice low scoring with many looks at makeable birdies (not that that I convert) and two putt pars. I sure miss those days . . . my long game has been in shambles of late.

I went back to a Launcher 330 . . . tee it low (1/3 of the ball above the face) and drive through it like a 3wd! Losing some distance, but it's not going OB!

i love hitting driver even when im not hitting it good. My course has very little rough so you can whale away on driver most holes.

like most golfers here i do use my 3 wood of tee when the hole is short or i must hit the fairway.

I use a driver whenever I can. I like to think I play smart golf. Im not opposed to hitting a 3 iron off the tee when I need to.

I will hit my driver on all holes where I need to get out there 260 or better. I will use an iron off the tee if I am playing a position golf course or hole that requires accuracy and placement rather than distance. A few courses I play have sharp doglegs and you just want to position your tee shot. one question ..... what the heck is a 3 wood ? ( never used one only carry one wood a driver in my bag ) :cheesy:

I hit driver whenever I can. If I'm playing a short hole with a lot of trouble, or a dog leg then I'll go with 3 wood or 5 wood. If I'm hitting driver bad, then the 3 is likely bad too...so I'll go with the 5 wood off the tee.

I have zero confidence in my driver at the moment so I normally take a 4 wood. Iam never that far behind my driver. Putting it in play alot more too.. iam not fighting the hook i have with my driver.

I am gonna take my driver out of the bag for a round and see what happens.

Without a driver? NO WAY. Walking up to the tee box with driver in hand getting ready to crush one is one of the most exciting things during a round! I really enjoy the short game and getting creative but the feel of a perfectly nutted driver in the middle of the fairway is just outstanding.

The key for me is to play a driver that feels good to me. On the odd occassion that I try something new, I often put it down for the last nine until I can get old faithful back in the sack.
