When Bubba walked off the green yesterday, Fowler, Crane and Baddely were there to congratulate him.  It was probably the first time I noticed that sort of thing.  I remember when Gary Player played his last round at the Masters a few years ago a lot of the international players and South Africans were waiting there for him, but that's kind of a completely different situation.  Does anyone recall this happening at any other times?  A player's peers waiting to congratulate him after a win or a major win?  I guess it says something nice about Bubba.

I don't recall seeing this before but I honestly wasn't surprised.   Crane & Fowler are part of the Golf Boys so you know they're close.   I didn't know Baddely was a close friend as well. I was actually wondering where Hunter Mahan was.

I thought I saw Hunter there too. Just didn't get on camera as much as the other three. I know those guys are friends and attend a Bible study together....so I am not surprised by their outpouring of support.

McDowell for Rory at the open.

I think it happens more often than is seen. A couple years ago Sean O'Hair won at Quail Hollow and none other than the most vile man in golf waited around to congratulate him.

It happens now and again on the European Tour, or certainly used to.

I remember seeing this sort of thing with a couple of the Swedes, Thomas Levet and a few others.

It's a nice touch, says a lot about the guys involved.

Those are all guys who are very outspoken Christians on tour, and attend the PGA Bible study (as someone above alluded to).  Badds is a part of that group.  So, when you have very Christian players, on the biggest day of their religion, having the biggest day of their life, it's understandable.

Some of those other instances mentioned above do occur, but usually on the 18th hole, not a play off  hole like the tenth with shoe string fences to hold back the gallery.

Yes, to the significance of Easter, but I have a hunch it wouldn't have mattered. It speaks volume and I hope it inspires certain golfers to remove the grimaces, club throwing, swearing and robotic images they portray. Have some fun out there! Appreciate how lucky you are.

I spoke to a few friends this morning, some are golfers some are not, some have never heard or seen Bubba before
if they were watching, most had tears in their eyes men and women.  That is some kind of power!

I was rooting for Bubba, but he sure has not been the shinning example of how to conduct yourself on the course over the years.

You always see it when a Frenchman wins, the other Frenchmen in the field soak him in champagne on the 18th green.

I was aware of the bible study group and their devout Christian faith but I also think there is the element that they are all outspoken fans of golf.    I don't doubt that Bubba would have been out there if Crane, Bads, or Rickie were in his position on Sunday.  The only thing that might have made him skip out and leave early would be his new adopted son Caleb and Angie.

Why would you say that? I was hearing on some golf telecast this year that Watson and Baddeley live near each other in Arizona (when bubba is there and not Florida) and they go to church together and play rounds together.

I remember Sergio congratulating Tiger at the 1999 PGA.  Granted, Sergio was in the group right in front of Tiger, and it wasn't really a congratulations, but more of a, "I gave you a good fight, and you were better", but atleast he was generous enough to do what he did.

I also remember McDowell waiting for Rory at the US Open.  This morning, on The Morning Drive, they commented on that and said that it was completely different because there was no way Rory was going to lose.  I completely disagree with their statement.  It was a friend showing support for the win.

You see it on the LPGA all the time, just about every tournament, the friends come over and shower the winner with beer, water, champagne, etc.

I agree with the person that said it is probably done more often, but the cameras just don't pick it up.  scott c.

Winged Foot - Adam Scott was already at the airport and went back to congratulate fellow Aussie Ogilvy and party with him after the win!

I know there were several players that either came out of the clubhouse or even came back from the airport to congratulate Darren Clarke after his Open victory.   it was a very very popular win among both European and American players.   He may very well be the most liked player by both tours.

I can't think of a guy who doesn't like Darren.  It's hard not to.

You got it.  I remember watching his press conference and the interviews he did afterward.  I mean I got the feeling I was watching a good friend finally experince the joys of winning.  And of course I've never met the man, but I can't imagine there is a more genuinely nice guy on either tour than DC.

I remember Tiger came back from  the helicopter pad, jumped in a golf cart and headed back to 18, this was also caught by a rogue film crew. He drove himself to the back of 18, jumped out did some high fives, and a couple of belly bumps with  some of the guys. Then as soon as the last putt sank by Phil he waited patiently gave Phil a big bear hug and handshake, the film crew caught him  saying congratulations for a well played tourney. He then hung out and signed autographs, laughed and joked with fans before leaving.

Then I woke up.......

It happened in last year's US Open when Rory won.  McDowell was there waiting on 18 to congratulate him.  Gmac there for obvious reasons of course.

As quoted on the bbc web site, i think he's slightly confused.

"I dreamed about it. I just never made the putt. As a golfer, this is Mecca."

When Mcilroy won at Quail Hollow I remember Furyk and Harrington going out of their way to congratulate him. Obviously there's the Irish connection with Harrington but was surprised with Furyk, guess he's always just been a class act.

So I know Bubba, Fowler, Baddley, Kuchar, Zach Johnson and Watney are all quite religious, any others out there? Are Hunter and Ben Crane?

I thought it was cool to see his "buudies" waiting for him and to congratule him after he won.  Now the question is, would he do it for them?

I remember seeing McIlroy and a few other young Irish guys go nuts with champagne when Shane Lowry won a tournament a few years ago.  I want to say McIlroy got the same treatment a few weeks earlier but I could be wrong on that.

In the context of today's Tour, it's completely understandable to me.  In fact, it was nice to see.  It is after all, just sports entertainment.

It did make me wonder, however, if the same type of thing happened back in the day when you had to actually win to make decent money, rather than making millions just by keeping your card?  Seems like if you're a little hungrier, you may not feel as compelled to gush all over the competition when they take food off your table.

Phil also did it for Darren Clarke at The Open.  Another plyer was there and I want to say it was Vijay but I could be wrong.  Phil and Amy are close to Darren after he lost his wife.

Was it at the Ryder when everyone had a photo with their spouse that Phil and Amy were with Darren?

Rory and GMac took a picture hugging each other - hilarious.

KJ Choi is very active in his church and in donating to other local churches in Texas plus other charities.  The man is (almost literally) a saint.

I think Ben Crane is quite religious.  I am not sure about Mahan.

They are a good group of guys.  Kuchar was close on Sunday and I was hoping he had a shot along with Phil.  Aaron Baddley seems like a really good guy as well.
