I've heard all the rave reviews about the KBS C-Taper shafts.  People saying they hit it farther with better dispersion etc.  I can't seem to find a set to hit at my local pro shop though.  Anyone who uses them or has hit them, what makes them so good?  Is it feel? Performance?  All of the above?  I know I hit the ball high enough to consider them, what are the reasons you switched?

I bought a set of i20s with c-taper stiff hard stepped once. I was coming from original ap2s with x100s. He difference is night and day for me. The flight is totally different.

Even though the x100s were too stiff for me they tended to float and tended to balloon. The new irons have such a strong flight. Almost like a perfect drive, the ball just keeps going! No floating whatsoever.

When I hit it, I expect to hit its apex and start floating a bit because that's what I'm used to seeing with every other iron I've ever hit. But with the i20/c-taper combo the ball hits that apex, stays flat and just keeps going. Consequently I hit them ten yards further, better dispersion, and way better in the wind.

Performance wise they're similar to project x with lower launch and better feel

One other thing. Since I don't spin the irons too much now I'm considering the option of changing to a higher spin ball that I think might help around the greens. Also plan on reshafting my wedges with the c-tapers

So lower launch than X100?  It almost sounds like its simply more consistant with spin control.  How about the feel? Soft? Muted? Strong feedback?

There are dozens of threads on here about the c-tapers.  Search around and you'll find all the info you could want.

I tried the C Taper Stiff in the Titleist 712 CBs last week and really liked it.  I was comparing to PX 6.0, 6.5 and DG S300.  I have been playing PX the last three years (mainily 6.0 but 6.5 in the last 2 months).  I'm looking to get out of the 6.5s becuase I don't like the feel and hit them prett high.  I liked the feel of the C Taper much better compared to the PX.  The PX even in the 6.0 seems harsher than the C Taper Stiff.  Ball flight seemed to be slightly lower as well.

They were not for me, did not like the feel or dispersion.  Went back to x100's and am happy again.

Definitely try before you buy.

I am the same.  I ordered my AP2 712 with the C-Taper and sold them a couple of weeks ago and went back to the KBS Tour.  It's different for everyone and I have a slower swingspeed so I never could load the shaft properly to get any benefit.  Try before you buy.

It's definitely a better shaft for someone who spins the ball.  If you don't spin the ball much regularly then the c-tapers wont be for you.

I hit them again a few days ago and was impressed more than my first trials with them. The flight is medium high, and when it gets to the apex it really has a flat flight with reduced side spin. Like a lot of other reviews they do perform as stated. The feel was smooth, light and consistant. I hit the S 120 gram version. I game the S300 for reference and will be gaming Super Peening Blues next. The C tapers are a very good shaft that left me very impressed, but for my game I prefer the SPBs.

I didn't like them. I tried them in Taylor Made MB's. Felt like rebar. I'll have to try them again.

Should be mentioned that they do play stiffer than stated flex by at least a half flex

Get the right flex and I doubt you'll be disappointed!

Can't say anyone who hit my 710 AP2's with S+ has ever said anything like that at all, and most of those guys swing regular Stiff shafts in the 5.8 range.  I guess feel really is different for everyone.

Agreed, they play stiffer, X100 was 6.8, Ctaper X flex is 7.3...But the kicker is the Ctaper is easier to swing and feels smoother to me for sure.  The shaft is just different then anything else out there for feel.

I would recommend going to a GG or anywhere that has the TM Fitting cart...they have the Ctaper S and Ctaper X in the cart, have them put those shafts in whichever TM head you think is comparable to your Mizzy and see how they feel...takes a few swings to get used to the balance..they are right at 50/50 weight distribution and that is what makes them really smooth.

Good Luck

I can't explain it. I usually play 6.0 Rifles or s300's.
