So I'm going to be in San Francisco next week for a conference and basically have all day Wednesday free - my first thought: "I should try to play Pebble."  Has anyone done this?  I know that generally you have to have a minimum 2-night stay to get on there, at least as far as making a reservation, but I thought I have heard that without a reservation you can show up as a single and if there's an opening they can fit you in as a "walk on."

Has anyone ever done this?

Sneak on while they aren't looking.

You can call the day before to see what's available. They can connect you with a tee time. Unfortunately it may be raining all week too.

You can always call the morning before and make a tee time.

They are a bit more lenient with their booking policies right now because they aerated the greens about a week ago.  They let us make a tee time for the 22nd a few weeks ago.  I'd call them if I were you.  Couldn't hurt.

I did this way back in '98.  Started calling for a tee time the day before as soon as they were open and when I finally got through they had 1 tee time available left at 6:50am.

I was staying in San Francisco and had to leave the hotel at 4:00am to make the 2+ hour drive to Pebble and pay $290 to play.  I would do it all again in a heartbeat!  Make sure you take the 17 mile drive on your way back, it may be even better than the golf!

Just call right now and ask. I have made advanced tee times before without staying there. Sometimes you just get lucky if they know they don't have that many rounds booked up. Although if you are a single you won't get it- you have to call the day before or try to walk on. if you are interested in playing Spyglass if Pebble is unavailable I think what you might be able to do if you have to go the walk on route is get there early and tell the pro shop you want to walk on at Pebble if there is an opening and if not, then you want to walk on at Spyglass. Almost assured of getting on one of the two.

Otherwise, just play at Pasatiempo. Closer to San Francisco and very, very good.

The likely won't be busy.  Call the day before, or of,and they will get you on.  I played on the first week of April last year, on a perfect Sunday, and less than 40 golfers played that day.

I was able to book this last trip 10 days in advance (as a single).  Just call out there and give them a range of three or four days, and they should be able to hook you up with something.

call everyday until they let you book.  Usually you can get on within 24 hrs if there is an opening.  Given the crappy weather, that should be easy.

Me too although in my case I think it was 6-7 days maybe, along about this time of year.

I did this last year. I called the day before at 7:00 am sharp PST. Got the last tee time of the next day. Check the websites availability link. If there's even limited availability you should be able to get a time. Good luck.

I played on Monday (3 days ago!) and made my reservation two weeks earlier.  If you PM me I can give you the name of the guy I worked with.  He has helped at least two other WRX'rs I know of in the last 30 days.  I do not know if this was a special situation or not.  My wife and I did not stay at the Lodge.  It was a totally AMAZING experience.  I am going to post a recap in the next day or two.

as a single, call the day before, they will give you an idea of how busy they are.  They should not be that busy, but show up first thing and you will get out. AS the day goes on you risk the chance of Lodge guests showing up.  Be sure to set the alarm for 4:00. It is a good 2+ hours from SF.  Have fun
