99.9% of moderation is done because of REPORTS from MEMBERS. So if you are looking for answers, you better ask the silently majority. With close to a million unique visitors a month, the moderators are reactive to Member reports and rarely if ever are proactive. The times they are, it is from past precedences or specific member issues.
This is a moderated forum and freedom speech is moderated here. This will not turn into a free for all forum such as the past golf channel or digest forums. There are plenty of other boards to grandstand at.
Gx,
Thanks so much for chiming in. I don't think that I have ever taken a moment to say thank you to you and/or the rest of the site's ownership/management, so please accept my thanks for starting and running such a great site. It has honestly enhanced my enjoyment of golf, top to bottom, as both a participant and a spectator. Because GolfWRX is such a great site, I want to contribute to its continuous improvement as much as I try to contribute quality content; I think that this is the best golf site there is.
That said, I certainly have no issue with moderation of grandstanding, personal attacks, and the like. Also, I fully agree with the silent majority that keeping DVR/TiVo users safe from spoilers (in topic titles) is a worthwhile goal. However, it seems that I am not alone in feeling that it is undesireable to have to sift through 60+ pages of a single Masters thread in order to discuss the likely dozens of minor topics of interest to my fellow members and myself.
For example, I noticed that someone started a thread regarding the apparent lack of "minimal commercial interruption", which has been a Masters tradition, during this year's coverage. Personally, I agree with that assessment, and would like to note my agreement and add that I don't recall hearing any of the green jacket-wearing gentlemen utter that particular phrase this year. Unfortunately, I can't do so without reading 60+ pages to find with whom I can converse; it just isn't worth the effort, for me.
Thanks again for all that you do here.
