Just bored, watching the Masters, and was checking on threads I posted in, and noticed all the people posting in the ClubWRX giveaway.

http://www.golfwrx.c...masters-prizes/

In bold, mentioned multiple times it says you must be a member of ClubWRX.

The sheer amount of people who can't read, but instantly want to type, "IN!" is insane. It's almost like people enter giveaways that have NO IDEA what it is, how to get it, but just want to get something free.

Not to mention, majority of the posters have like a handful of posts, recently registered, or joined long time ago but only post for the giveaways. Some odd replies too.

Pretty funny stuff though, even after it's been mentioned, people continue to rack up the post count on the thread. It'll take a while to weed through the auto generator for all the people who won, but weren't members!

It just hammered the point to me, seeing all the people who don't put ANYTHING into the forum. Not talking about supporting members, but people who don't even post, except for the giveaways, and posting on all of them! Making a "ClubWRX Only" giveaway is pretty cool no doubt, but shows that people can't even read the whole thing, or clearly enough before posting.

I wouldn't mind seeing the giveaways slowed down a bit, myself.

As a newish member here and not a ClubWrx member (yet) I have to say that the contests are  a cool part of the site. They are way down the list of reasons to visit here for me. I have entered a couple of the contests but not every single one.  There is simply some of the stuff I would never use if I won it.  For instance the gloves one a couple of weeks ago was cool but I do not wear a glove at all so it made no sense for me to enter.   Why not leave contests to something you would actually use?

Honestly I did not pay that much attention to the ClubWrx only contest and I might have even entered it not really paying attention.  I do not think I did and now that I realize there are differences in the contests I will read them more carefully.

And I agree that there should be exclusive contests for those that pay something to be here.  If my credit card had not been recently compromised I might have joined by now.   Honestly I am a little gun shy about Paypal and anything online for a little while.

I would say that sometimes a person might mistakenly  join a contest as well.  Many of us visit places like this while doing other things and might not always pay full attention to every single word on a page.  See a contest for cool golf stuff and enter.  Who knows?  If everyone thought alike this world would be a BORING place for sure.

Welcome!

I agree that people could probably just enter and not read, but you'd think that they would see the fine print as they scanned over the goods they want to win. With the awesome stuff here, and the frequency of the giveaways, I just wish people gave the community something, instead of entering every contest only. Some people entered have 28 posts, and 20 of them are in 'Past giveaways'.. Seriously?

Totally agree.  If someone only comes here to enter the contests then they are just using the site.   Really they could limit the number of giveaways a little or increase the number of ClubWrx only ones and it would not hurt my feelings.    For every free one they could do a ClubWrx only one and no one could complain at all.  It is not as if it is a million dollars to join or something.

I saw the giveaway the other day and had to click to see how many non-members would enter it. I think the main problem is that they don't know what Club WRX is since they are either new to the forum or only post in the Giveaways.

Good point, I figured people might think since you can join here, everyone is a ClubWRX member. I wasn't one for a while, but felt it was good enough to give money for the growth of the site, since I use it so frequently.

But I think you struck the nail.. most of 'em enter for just the freebies and don't know anymore than that.

I know personally as soon as I won once I stopped entering, save some for the fishes yanno? I do wish I could have won something I could use more, I ordered it as a regular flex for some stupid reason right when I was on the verge of stiff shaft and never even got to install it because by the time I got it I pretty much had got me swing into the stiff flex range. It's just sitting collecting dust now because I don't want to sell something I got for free!

And...people are still entering without reading.  I would love to be part of ClubWRX, but alas am not, so I cannot enter.  But the landslide of posts in that thread from people who have 5-10 posts (I'm sure are all in contests) is ridiculous.  Just learn to read, please

Wow...Who cares? People love free stuff. It shouldn't bother you so much that you would take time to open a whole thread about it.

If they don't read the rules and post something that has nothing to do with the contest, then that is one less person you have to worry about winning. So just see it as better odds for yourself.

As for troubling the random generator..You go down the list until you hit the first ClubWRX member..big deal.

Respect for being a ClubWRX member. Not so much for this thread...

You obviously did to comment. People like free stuff, but take a moment to read before you just put your hand out. Most of the posts in these giveaways are done by people who never post, but just register to win something free to turn around and sell. It's rather ironic the one post that requires people actually contribute in some form and fashion to win, you get it bombed with people with no reading skills.

I don't really care if I win or not. If I win something awesome, I can buy most of the gear if I want it bad enough, barring some special tour only stuff.

It's just irritating to see people leech of others, IMO. Let alone people who can't even obviously follow directions to get said free stuff. Ironic enough that OWNERS of this site had to post in there asking if people even read the directions. No different than people to applied to some contests and pissed and moaned because they couldn't follow the directions properly to get entered.

I'll agree that it irks me beyond belief that there are people who come here once a week, enter the giveaways, and return next week to see if anything else is being given away.

Same goes for the ClubWRX giveaways filled with entrants that are not sub'd members.  Look at my post in that thread, I made it last week and my entry was poking fun at those illiterate people whom entered.

And really who enters all of the giveaways anyway?  There are a bunch that I know are not going to be something that I'll put to use, so why enter?  Just to win?  And own something that I'll toss in storage to never be used?  People are crazy when it comes to winning free stuff, even if they have no plans to use it.  Maybe its just me but I find that kind of mentality ignorant.

Glad some others share my sentiment.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I find some of this to sound awfully snobbish. There are people here for many, many reasons who may not post regularly who contribute in other ways. Take me for example. I originally found this site last summer on a google search about Titleist 910 drivers to ensure I wouldn't be getting any surprises. Read a ton of threads on that topic, and others and didn't actually join until sometime this spring. I'm an upper teen handicapper with very little time to play, and even smaller budget for new clubs and I game mostly older equipment. Would you prefer me to be "contributing" my advice or recommendations in threads I know nothing about? How about giving swing advice? What about posting in threads about how good the new RBZ stuff is, or how terrible it is, or the difference between Tour and Non-Tour equipment? I know when I'm looking for opinions and advice I'd much rather hear it from someone who knows what they're talking about.

My post count may be low, and I'm guessing half my comments are in giveaway threads, but if I'm reading threads and info daily here, and more importantly spreading the word about this site to other non-members, isn't that what you should look for in a member?
