Those are some killer deals.  I wonder what kind of trade-in value GG is giving people to be able to sell them that cheap?

Employee:  "We'll give you $2.49 credit for your Hibore fairway."

Customer:  "Seriously?  Awesome!"

I bought a 15 degree Taylormade Rescue w/ R-80 Bubble Shaft in mint condition 3 weeks ago for $8.50.  Love the club.  I definitely need to stop by GG more often and look through the used club selection, especially putters, saw some good deals on putters last time I went to me local GG.

I asked this guy, what did you offer them for these. They marked them up 50%, 2 bucks each on the 580's and 5 bucks for the hibore. (2 different people trading them in) Now, i have no idea if the now 4 generation old R5 woods are gonna be any good at all. But for 7,98 total, if my son or I can;t make use out of them and none of my friends are interested, some kid at the first tee will like them just fine i am sure! 90% of my used clubs that i know will bring me minimal trade value go to the first tee, Those kids go nuts for gear we here look at with disdain. Kinda shameful really.

And actually, i was in there to grab a used wedge for a buddy who i was meeting for some drinks where he was going to give me a bushnell neo GPS that he got for a birthday gift like 2 years ago and never opened. Well he needs a 56 with lots of bounce in a bad way. But i saw the hibore and it matches his driver so it was perfect because the 3 wood in his bag is first generation steel head spalding. it was ridiculous. Worked out perfect.

i was back in there tonight ( i know, right?) and they had a 52 and 58 cleveland 588 forged wedges for 71 bucks each. Looked to have been used maybe 2 rounds. I would have pulled the trigger but neither one fits my wedge set up.

I'm not sure if I'm just a stuck up unappreciative *****, but there's no way I would take $2 for any club that I'm selling.

Any TM wood from that era is worth at least that much.  I've been pleasantly surprised in the past with many of those models.  And we all know how good the V-Steel fairways are!  The R5 fairway I hit in the past was plenty good.

And both you guys are correct.  I'm sure there are plenty of people out there I'd get more enjoyment from giving a decent club to than to dump it for <$10.

Let me just say I'm glad I don't have a GG (or any golf shop) nearby cause I'd be stopping in daily to check out the newly added used clubs.

I haven't been into my GG in years. I used to find deals just like these. But then all of a sudden prices went up through the roof. Couldn't find a driver <$100 (even w/ sky marks), wedges were $50 and up (including well gamed, bad grips), a set of Nike Pro Combo's that were trashed were listed at $249.99. This was probably about 4 years ago now, but that completely turned me off. I went in on multiple occasions but the prices never seemed to go down to where they used to be (like deals noted in this thread). From the sounds of it, it would be worth stopping back in one of these days.

Same with mine, the selection isn't all that big and the prices are fairly high.

Golf Galaxy near me has a slim selection of used gear... especially in lefty. I'm kicking myself for not picking up a set of 3-PW Titleist 735CM's in good shape with newer grips and S300 shafts for $150 2 weeks ago though!

Golfsmith by me has tons of used gear and you can haggle on price.... GG won't negotiate from my experience.

This is my experience lately. I don't think in my dozens of stops I've ever seen a deal like the ones here. I see beat to heck Vokeys for $49, three-year old iron sets for $329, last generation drivers for 179. Crazy how different it can be from store to store I guess.

A couple years ago the two gg I goto adjusted prices inline with eBay, and lowered trade values to match. I have gotten some good deals in the past (r9 460 w/fubuki for $95) but saw this week some r9 and 460 for $60 and a bunch of $30 hybrids. Nothing earth shattering but definitely competitive and makes a trip there worthwhile, whereas best or eBay were always much cheaper in the past.

The GG here in OKC, Ok has a fake Scotty Cameron Studio Style for $199.  It's a pretty bad fake also.  The used clubs are high priced most of the time.

If you catch them right after a price drop, you get stupid deals.  The question is when do these price drops occur?

I miss my GG.  It was for those crazy used deals that I used to go there weekly.  Get to try out something and then return it or sell it for a profit.

Many times they would mis-categorize a club and have it for sale much cheaper than it should be.
