The clubs look fantastic!  It is frustrating that even in So Cal I cannot find a set to look at, hit or demo.  Bridgestone, if you want to be in the US market...Be In The US Mkt...go all in.

Including the smaller Canadian Market.  They are impossible to find up here.  Bridgestone's marketing strategy needs an overhaul.  They would be much more successful if they actually had one.

And there lies the problem.  Makes no sense to me.

Do the DP's feel as good as the CB's?  (Or atleast close?).  Are both models forged or just the CB's?  I briefly had the j36 PC's a few years ago and thought they felt great.

I play the DPC and I think they feel just as good. At least there is not enough difference that I can feel. that is why I went DPC a little bit more forgiving. Of course this is only hitting the two indoors into a net to decide which I liked more. PC are prettier in my opinion if that is what matters to you.

I like the fact that they are hard to find. I am big into being able to play nice stuff that not everybody and their dog has. Everybody that sees them is curious case it's a little foreign. It makes for good bragging talk about how much I love them. Yes call me selfish I know.

Anyone else that plays bridgestone have the same feelings?

I have the DPC's in PX shafts and love them.  Took a bit of getting used to because I was a blade man before and also these have have a very slight offset. They are a beautiful club head. I have the hybrids and the wedges also. Give them a try!

I've owned and loved the J36cb irons in the past, and I currently play Mizuno MP-57's. Loved the Bridgestones and I miss them, so I'm mulling over picking up a set of the J40cb. Does anyone here know if I'll get any more forgiveness out of the B'stones or if I should just stick with the Mizunos? I love the MP-57 irons, but they seem as if the sweet spot is fairly small in comparison to the J36's I had in the past. Love the feel of forged, just want to look at something different than what I have. Also I'm a relentless club ho. Sorry for the rambling aspects of this post.

I'm looking at the J40's but I don't have any stores around me that carries them so I'm thinking of picking up a set without trying them out first ....

I'm presently playing the TM MB/MC combo with a KBS Tour stiff shaft soft stepped one time ...I play to about a 10 HCP & would consider myself a sweeper .

I have no problem getting height on my shots .

That being the case can anyone suggest which set I should look at the CB or the DCP ??

Thanks

For a 10 handicap guy I recommend the DCP.  Fred Couples use DPC irons so that should tell you what they are capable of.

Ok thanks! Did you notice any forgiveness difference between the 53s and the CBs?

Thanks for the feedback ...I was leaning towards the DCP's .
Looking forward to seeing how these compare to my TM's ...

I found a set in my hometown on CL that are practically new and priced right. I'm going to hit them Thursday after work and compare to my current sticks. Might keep both sets. We'll see. But I'm afraid they might sell before I get a chance to try them.

Bridgestone could have a huge piece of the "players" iron market if they chose to market them.  But they don't and I don't mind, I enjoy having clubs that I won't see in anyone else's bag!

Anyone else find it strange they don't offer a 50-degree gap wedge in the set?

They don't offer a 50-degree wedge in the wedge line either.

This is my 4th set of Bridgestone irons and have no plans to go to another company.

I played my first round with a set of J40 DCP's that I just picked up ..the only thing I can say to describe how they performed is ...AWESOME !!!!!
These have to be one of the nicest set of irons I've played with in many years ..I couldn't of asked for more ...great feel, perfect trajectory & extremely playable !!
My iron play was pretty spot on ...I didn't score worth a crap ...dam putter !!!
But my ball striking with my irons was pure ..These are going to be staying around for quite awhile ...
Great Sticks !!!!!

In answer to the OP's original question, my answer is YES THEY ARE.
But having worn out 3 sets of Miura Tourney Blades, I feel qualified to say that flushing a J40 CB does not feel quite the same (as in good) as the Miura.

For you guys that are hitting these irons, are you playing the J40 wedges as well or something different?

You are killing me... I really want J-40s with steel fiber and, bingo, you post this.  I've asked my club fitter for these and he has not gotten back to me.

Scratch wedges for me personally.  The face on the bridgestone wedges looks too big for me, it's a visual thing.

Scratch wedges for me too.  Just because I always wanted to try them.  I also like the 53, 58 gap for my game.

At my local PGA Superstore they have racks and racks of all the major US OEM irons.  Even a setup for Scratch.  However, the entire Bridgestone display consists of two nondescript staff bags stashed around the corner near the discontinued stuff.  One bag holds a set of J40 CB's and the other the J40 DPC's.    Beautiful clubs.

Unfortunately, the average buyer would likely never even give them a look.  The way Bridgestone clubs are allocated shelf space will never allow them to become more than a niche brand.  I assume they just don't want to pay for better placement?

Also, I know a lot of people love them, but the only B'stone irons I have ever seen have Project X steel shafts in them.  Those just don't work for me.  The other OEMS are simply providing a much better variety of in-store fitting options.

BTW, you can order the j40's in a variety of shafts. I got mine with Nippon but there are many others. Check out their web site or talk to a rep in the know.

Unfortunately, that's how it is in most of them.  I can only assume you're near one of the older stores, but you're right, they don't keep much stock or display Bridgestone the way they do others.  That being said, you're also correct in your statement that the companies pay for their spots, and Bridgestone simply isn't going to fork out the cash for it.

I've seen Bridgestone irons up on the racks in superstores like the J38s, but in all the ones I've been in, none of them carry the J40s.

I wanted to hit the J40s with the KBS ctapers and when I went to ask the guy at the simulator if they carried the ctapers all I got was, "C-tapers?" And he continued to try and fit a guy that wanted to buy "a whole new set" because obviously that was what was wrong with his game...

Frustrating to say the least. They market their golf balls, but boy they need to push their clubs. I can see them someday becoming a Mizuno type brand. You know that under the radar type brand, but has a lot of recognition and the majority of the players that play the irons are just that, players/good ball strikers.

I've been using the J33 CBs since they came out and today, I received my J40 CBs.  They look great, they might finally retire the J33s, we'll see.

Just looking at the J40s, they appear to have more forgiveness.  Beautiful irons by Bridgestone!!!
