I've always been a fan of otterbox stuff too. The defender is awesome but bulky. The commuter is still quite good while being smaller.

I have too many:
CaseMate Barely There are the best slim cases I found. They have a bit of texture and don't wear out like cheap plastic ones. CaseMate also makes an Aluminum Barely There, they are sweet. They also have one that I use for going out, holds a few bills, an ID and another card within the back of the case -- very handy. They also have custom cases like the ID Tough -- you upload pictures from FB or Instagram and they'll make a case with your pics. More than fair pricing.
My Graft Image is sweet. Has an industrial look with an aluminum lever but is basically an Apple bumper. Cool nonetheless.
Atomic and Element also make killer aluminum cases. All metal. Flared edges so you have a good grip. Looking at $100 minimum. The Element ION4 is a cheaper alternative and a mad good case.
Rokbed has some cool stuff and they include a port in the back for lanyards, magnets, clips, etc so you can attach your phone anywhere.
Ballistic HC case is bulky but a beast -- CaseMate Tank as well. Life Proof Gen 2 is probably better than these though.
Incipio makes IMO the best extra battery case with their offGrid. Has enough juice to serve as a backup battery and it doesn't add all that much size.
Oh, and buy an Invisible Shield to protect from scratches. Worth the $30 IMO.

They can be had on eBay for closer to $60... that's where I got mine from.

I've been thinking about that rokbed case. Looks pretty decent.
I tried and returned the lifeproof case. I really wanted to like it but it just never seemed to fit right. I'll use the otterbox and just do my best not to submerge it in water.

ive had that exact same one over a year now and it hasnt broken or anything. i wont say its the best because ive never had to try another one, but it certainly gets the job done, and isnt really noticeable as the phone is black anyways.
