Go to the local drug store and buy a pair of $7 "in-ear" phones with the interchangable rubbery tips.  You can find a good fit in your ear so they don't fall off.  I like them down my back outside of my shirt with my iPhone in my back pocket.  Helps me concentrate on the ball instead of the people swinging and swearing around me.

I have sony open air for $10, a pair of shure in-ear and Grado SR125 as well.  The sony serve their purpose at gym and range.  I run it down the front of inside of my shirt and then out at my phone(pandora).  It never gets in my way, and the open air allows me to hear what I'm doing.  Many probably play music too loud on the buds for sure.

2 words: Bluetooth Headphones.

No wires to worry about and great audio quality. I wear them all the time practicing.

Here are the ones I have that I would highly recommend:

I use the Motorola S9 w/Bluetooth adapter for my iPod and the Motorola S10-HD for my iPhone. No wires to worry with, they are extremely comfy, and I really don't have to worry about them coming off. For me, they have been perfect for replacing my Apple earbuds.

Such an interesting topic and something that I have never even thought of but am definitely going to try. I'm surprised we haven't seen one of the pros on tour using headphones on the putting green or something.

Personally, I hate it. My reason is you can't wear them when you play, so why would you practice using them...

You can't play with alignment rods either.

I try and practice as comfortably as possible. There is something to be said for practicing "in-game" situations, but listening to some soft music keeps me calm, focused, and in tempo. Also love blocking out my surroundings, don't need to be bothered with most of the schmucks at the range.

I use Adidas branded Sennheiser headphones. They have a long cord that I run down the front. They have helped me get more out of my practice. I've used them on course a few times but if it were busy I'd forgo them in favour of hearing the "fore" of errant golf shots.

I like wearing earphones on the range for various reasons:

First off, "your" music is good for "you".  It soothes the soul, relaxes you and puts you in a good mood.

But the biggest reason I like it is because it creates less distractions for me.  When I have my music on I'm in my own word focusing on what I want to focus on.  I don't have to worry about what others on the range are doing.  My peeves are when the guy next to you is overswinging, or creating ugly mishit sounds, grunting, or whining/sighing - all these things often distract me from what I am trying to work on.

I have a longer torso (i'm 6'5") and the standard apple headphones to the iphone in my pocket would pull out during my swing even under the shirt. I recently bought one of the new ipod nano's and can simply clip it to the back of my collar and tuck the headphone cord in and It's perfect! no cord to worry about the ipod is very light and you dont even feel it on your collar. It's the best thing I have found short of the a blue tooth set which can be bulky at times.

I use the one from Dr Dre's company, Beats Tour version.
Lately I have been listening to Skrillex exclusively.

I also wear them, if I have a t shirt on I'll run them down my back/under the shirt.  If I have a jacket or something heavier I'll just run them down the front under the garment.  Helps keep your mind on what is going on and blocking out the surroundings.

I tried it a few times but it was odd. I couldnt hear the impact. I'm sure you could get used to it but idk. Just was weird for me. I do have a little portable speaker thing I uses sometimes when I am playing alone. Hearing some tunes while out there is pretty enjoyable.

Thought I would give my two cents, these JVC headphones are the most comfortable and best-sounding earbuds i've ever used.  At $17, you can't go wrong -

http://www.amazon.co...s00_i00_details

They come with a clip on the cord, so I thread the cord through my shirt, give a little slack coming out so there isn't any pull on my ears through a full swing, and clip it on the inside of the shirt.  No tug, completely comfortable.  Really helps me to block out all the yahoos at the range.

Love music while practicing. Keeps my mind clear. I use a Sony bluetooth set and play it straight through my iPhone. It gets no better then some music to tune all else out.  Helps me with my tempo too depending on the song.  As mentioned earlier, I have even put them on if playing a quick round solo. Very relaxing either way.

beats by Dr.Dre ear buds work great, but call me crazy i sometimes think the sound the club makes when struck correctly sound like birds chripping on a beautiful Spring day so i sometimes dont like using them.

S9-HD user, here, too.  The best part is that you don't have to have the source on your person.

I do this for putting, chipping, and shorter pitches but rarely on full shots. I like it, keeps me concentrated and away from distractions like other people on the range.

Skull Candy. Cord down the back inside my shirt, the cord has controls up near one of the buds which are very convenient. Ipod in small leather case that clips onto my belt or waistband at the back. Never gets in the way.

I do the same thing alot of people do, running the cord down my back if I'm wearing a t-shirt or 2nd layer.

When I'm wearing a golf shirt though, which I'll keep tucked in, I can't run the cord down the shirt. In that case I'll keep the iPod in my back pocket as I normally would, but then I loop the cord through the gap in the back of my golf hat. The hat keeps pressure on the cord, so then the weight and movement of the cord during the swing don't yank the ear buds out.

I almost always have my headphones in at the range. That way I can block out all the noise and such. I found if the Sennheiser OMX 680i since it has an iphone remote built in. They stay on through anything, are water resistant, have a kevlar wire casing, and sound pretty decent.
