Feherty, the show on golf channel, is brought to you by Cobra....the equipment company that used to sponsor Feherty, the person (now with Bridgeston).....

Think they did that on purpose?

My guess is that Cobra signed on to sponsor the show when it  started. Then, Feherty switched to Bridgestone and then Cobra was stcuk with the show. Of course! Brdgestone could buy Cobra/Puma and everything could work out.

Feherty was sponsored by cobra / acushnet, as a spokesperson, a personality on thier comercials. once puma bought them Cobra  it becomes a different story entirely. Besides cobra is a club company and Bridgestone for the most part is a ball company.

Because he's not a player I don't find it to be that big of a deal.

"stuck" is a strange word.... Cobra gets huge plugs from Feherty. I dont even notice a Bridgestone ad. In fact are they not just a ball company in terms of golf? Where as Cobra/Puma is the entire package in the game now.  Posted Image Everything is working out just fine and yes it DOES have something to do with his past relationship with the brand.

Also Bridgestone could NEVER buy out Cobra/Puma. Its impossible Puma owns Cobra. Do you not realize how big the brand has now become with the merger of the 2 brands? Puma/Cobra is now worth double if not triple the amount of Bridgestone easily. Heck Puma alone is worth more than Bridgestone so combined they will move forward and be a true force to reckon with.

Bridgestone is a Global 500 company (#287 according to Money Magazine).  Bridgestone is larger than McDonald's and is one heck of lot bigger than Puma/Cobra.

Keep in mind that something like 80% of Bridgestone's revenue comes from tire sales.

I don't think you realize that Bridgestone Golf is the same company as Bridgestone Tires.  Ergo, massive, as the quote below illustrates.

I would imagine several of Bridgestone's PGA Tour flagship guys (Couples, Snedeker, Love, etc.) would disagree about Bridgestone being a ball company. I've seen too many J33, 36, and 40s to think otherwise.

Now he scrambles for stuff to say....

The price of success is steep...:(

My bad gentleman got my numbers wrong. Looking at wikipedia and converting euros to $$$ and mis reading millions and billions...lolPosted Image

If you use wikipedia and look at both companies you will see how strong BOTH truly are. Puma is not WORTH as much as Bridgestone, my apologies again. It is worth 2.3 Billion Euro in assets though so I doubt Puma is concerned about anyone anytime soon.

If it was done a purpose and not agreed when he was still endorsing Cobra then it's very clever. As well as the exposure from the show I reckon most people would still think that the two are still together. Kind of like leveraging the sponsorship even after the endorsement is over.

Loved the Bubba interview. I think he's (Faherty) finally starting to come into his own with the direction of the show.

The first episode I saw was the Michelle Wie episode - good, nothing spectacular, Feherety kept it interesting, but I was entertained enough to watch the next week's Bubba episode.  This episode really showed Bubba as an awesome player/personality/person.  I was a Bubba fan before but this just solidified it in my mind (coincidentally) just in time for an awesome Master's weekend.

I was excited for this week's Ken Venturi episode and was not disappointed.  I could spend hours listening to him tell stories of "the way it was," so this episode was a real treat.  Highly reccomended.

Bridgestone. Clubs have less than a 1% market share........it's not even part of a conversation.  Right now it's all about the ball driving revenues and even that isn't a lot

That Venturi episode was awesome.  I love his quote about Byron Nelson, always asking about the course record on the first tee during exhibitions.  His reason  being 'you always ask because if the home pro owns the course record, you don't break it. That pro lives here. We're just visitors.'   I thought that quote was pure class.

Venturi was excellent.  I grew up listening to him on the broadcasts, but other than that and a couple of golf stories, don't really know much about him.  At first, the way he was telling his stories, I thought he was another Gary Player, about to tell us how great he was, and the first to do this, and the best to do that, but he doesn't take himself seriously at all.

For example, when speaking of the book "The Match" he said very seriously: "I can tell you that every word I say of in this book is true.... that's because everyone else is all gone!"

+1 for this.

Not playing a cobra iron anymore, but I had a 427 driver that had to be pried out of my crying hands, and still play two of their hybrids which likely will need to be pried out as well.

Feherty's show is really good with only a few three putts.  So far I've really enjoyed Tom Watson, Greg Norman, Sergio Garcia, Bubba Watson & Certainly Mr. Ken Venturi.  Venturi was like listening to my Dad tell stories of his youth.  Mostly because my Dad played pro baseball & then was a great local amateur in his day too.  ….Hell, he still IS a great golfer, often shooting in the mid 70s at age 81!!  (Love You Dad, thanks for giving me your gifts) Good stories of how it was "back in the day" but without sounding like an old curmudgeon lamenting how easy everyone has it today.  CBS should bring him back for a guest piece at an upcoming Masters.
