I'm curious to see what peoples opinions are. I love the feel and playability that the MP59's offer in the 7-PW but on the other hand am not yet consistent enough in my ball striking to play the 3-6. I have tossed around the idea of a blended set of MP 59s (7-PW) and MP 53s (6-3). I am a 12 handicap and at the end of the day still rely on a bit of forgiveness in my long irons to keep my gir respectable. My major concern would be a distance gap between the two.

I think you should go for it.  I have a 53/63 combo set and I love it--I feel like its a great combination of forgiveness and accuracy/feel.  The 53/59 combo would be even more awesome, especially if you are good from 175 yards and in.  If you're worried about distance gaps, you can always get the 59's bent strong, although I don't think you will have a problem with distance if you hit it in the sweet spot.  Good luck!

As mentioned the 53s are a combo set within themselves, not so sure how a 59/53 combo would go, the 59s heads are quite smaller, depending on your eye the size difference between the 53 6i and 59 7i might be too much??

be cautious if you are thinking about trading in, in a few years. many stores will not take anything under a 6 piece (all the same model) iron set.

I've also been looking at both the 53s and the 59s. The thought of mixing them does cross my mind too.

Do you guys think it's better to have, maybe 59 (5-PW) and 53 (3-4)? so at least you have one set that's 6 clubs?

Currently playing a MP-53 4-iron and MP-59 5-PW. I found the 53 to launch the ball higher which was exactly what I was looking for in a 4-iron. Both are solid sets and you cannot go wrong with either.

I have 4 and 5 iron in MP53, they launch perfectly for long approach shots. the 59's are amazing though! Great combo

Actually I have both sets and the head size is very comparable...... They are not much smaller at all......I was surprised bit like I said I own both and put em side by side and they are very close...... Also the lofts are identical so no issue there

While they are a combo set within themselves they are still very much a GI club even though short irons are mb type, they are very forgiving

In feel there is no comparison the 59 are much softer

Currently play 4/5 iron in 53 and 6-pw in 59

To OP 53 will be a good set, you will not see a hdcp drop using 59 and the 53 is more than capable of taking you down to scratch or lower, they both use same sole and you will appreciate extra forgiveness of the 53....... They also feel really great so at your level I would just stick with 53
